Greetings!

Lola & Gorilla
Welcome to spring.  With the arrival of seasonal blossoms and blooms come additional, sometimes unwanted, visitors.  Allergens, fleas and other critters become more active in the warmer weather of the early spring through summer.  While there are different approaches to pest control as well as the treatment of allergy symptoms, I generally prefer to go with the most holistic, all natural approach that is possible.

To that end, we will focus a bit on the issue of good skin care for your pets.  Below we will introduce you to some wonderful products that can help your animals get relief from the itching, scratching and hot spots associated with any seasonal skin issues they may be experiencing. Also, you can read up on changes coming down the pike for some forms of flea and tick products.

And don't forget to tune into Pet Shop Talk as we get our second season underway; we look forward to many great guests sharing their experiences and knowledge in year two!

Sincerely,

Lola Michelin

EPA to Tighten Restrictions on Tick and Flea Products
By Kim Chipman

"The Obama administration said it will increase restrictions on tick-and-flea "spot-on" pesticides for pets because of a rise in adverse reactions in cats and dogs, including seizures and death.

"These are poisons," Steve Owens, assistant administrator in the Environmental Protection Agency's pesticides and toxic substances office, told reporters today on a conference call. "They are products designed to kill fleas and ticks."
