Volunteer breakfastReady Schools Project (RSP) Green Eggs and Ham Volunteer Breakfast 2007

Washington, DC--October 13, 2007- More than fifty district volunteers including parents, students, principals, and community members joined with DC VOICE for a discussion breakfast on volunteer impressions and community priorities for the soon to be released Ready Schools Project Report. DC VOICE was able to formally thank and congratulate everyone, especially volunteers that made the Ready Schools Project a possibility. This year's Ready Schools Project was particularly exciting with the completion of auditing 137 schools and provided attendees of the breakfast a mouthful to discuss. Discussion topics ranged from what volunteers liked most about Ready Schools Project to what should this year's report reflect as well as how DC VOICE and the community can use this year's Ready Schools Project for action in the future? Volunteers were also reminded to save the date for the release of the Project Findings on November 10, 2007.

               October Fundraiser Concludes

DC VOICE is proud to announce that during our October fundraiser the community contributed a total of $26,850 to the Ready Schools Project Report 2007.  This money will be applied directly to ensuring the production and distribution of a report that is worthy of its active participants and spirited community.  Thanks to your help, this year's report will reach our largest audience yet, ensuring that the community's findings will be used to mobilize action towards improving DC's public schools.
