Solutions for the Speed of Life...

Congratulations have been pouring in!
Personal Excellence magazine included me as #81 in their "Top 100 Minds on Personal Development."
The Mixed Blessing of New Gear...
AKA: Stuff you don't know how to use... yet.
I love cool new gear. New technology makes great promises like faster computing, easier use and better quality of life!

So why does getting a new gadget like a cell phone, pda or computer software slow us down, especially in the beginning? Most people are keenly aware of the financial cost of a new system, but they often don't plan for the time investment to learn a new system.

If you've geared up this holiday season, be sure to:
  • Schedule the time to review the manual/watch the online tutorials/attend a training seminar.
  • Backup your current system, just in case something goes (terribly, terribly) wrong with the new stuff.
  • Find someone you know who changed over to this new system. Schedule some time to ask them about any surprises they may have encountered and how they resolved them. Ask if they would make the change again, knowing what they know now.

Prepare yourself for any new system change, and you'll avoid the pitfalls of new technology and enjoy the smooth transition to higher performance.
New Gear for the New Year
What I'm using to get connected and inspired.
I geared up during the holidays. I'm using the new BlackBerry Curve, Sony Cybershot camera and the XO computer, (watch my quick video openning my XO from the One Laptop Per Child program).

I'm also test-driving Simply Audio Books (a Netflix-like service that delivers books on CD to your mailbox) and SalesForce (a customer relationship management program).

If you've been limping along with old technology which has been good enough, I highly recommend investing in an upgrade that will blow-your-socks-off! What better way to draw out your creative juices than using something on the leading edge that inspires you to do new and great things.

                                 Got Teens?
Teens experience the stress of time management too. My latest audio lesson gives practical advice for students to manage their time, energe, focus and tools. Free to help you and your family get the right things done.
