Predicting Success in 2008...
What's the point of making a list?
|
What do riding zip lines in Costa Rica, racing in the NY City Triathlon and launching a new company have in common? They're all highlights of my 2007 year-end review.
One of my favorite holiday traditions is sitting down with Jodi (my wife and business partner) to list all of our trips, accomplishments, highlights and completions at the end of each year. We've been doing this together for 14 years now!
This is more than a feel-good exercise. We measure our growth over the years. It helps us remember how much we've done, how far we've come and what really is important when all is said and done.
The second part of the tradition is making the list of what we'd like to complete during the next year. We include financial goals, product launches, ideal clients, vacations & trips, home improvements, and any big purchases.
Don't leave these important life events up to chance. Dream big and write them down. You'll be glad you did.

I made a quick slideshow to share my highlights of 2007 with you.
I took about 8 weeks of vacation this year, worked in Guatemala, vacationed in Costa Rica, and rode 850 miles on my bike through the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I became an uncle, again, and got to enjoy time with my family throughout the year. I also had my most exciting business year ever - speaking to companies in NY, London, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Knoxville, Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, SF, LA and more.
The bookstores are FULL of books on setting goals, creating lists, building the life you'd like to lead. I've read dozens of them. My recommendation is find one that speaks to you. There is no perfect book - one that will answer everyone's questions. What I do know is that I'm looking for a complete life - filled with family, friends, work, travel, health, joy and adventure.
