Team Womack
Tip: Build your team.
|
When we launched our own company, one of the first exercises we did was to map out who's on our team. We knew we'd need support, coaching, and all kinds of help.
So my wife/business partner and I started a mindmap on a big white board, listing the names and companies that we could rely on. The list grew fast!
Next we grouped them by areas of focus including business mentoring, financial advice, and medical/well being. Yes, we even put massage therapists and doctors on this list. We also added other couples we know that have launched their own companies.
The first impression this massive compilation of people gave us is that we weren't alone. Second, it gave us a basis for building relationships even deeper, as we'd be calling on these folks for support as we need it.
I'm happy to report that our company is learning and growing daily. We're asking for questions along the way and there's the added benefit of reciprocating support - i.e. we're getting to help others with their goals, too.
IMPORTANT QUESTIONS as you build your team:
- Are these people really interested in our well being?
- Have they offered to share their skills & knowledge?
- Would we like to emulate the kind of people they are?
You're welcome to use our criteria or make up some of your own. If you're receiving this message, chances are we've met in a workshop or coaching. I hope you'll count me as one of your Team along your journey.
Best wishes to you and all of your endeavors,
