Have you ever thought to tell someone something REALLY important, but forgot?

Remind me to tell you...
Make an AGENDA for each person you meet with regularly. You can make a file folder with the person's name on it and drop notes inside anytime you think of something to tell them the next time you meet.

You can also do this in Outlook, Lotus Notes, and Entourage by making a new Task/To Do. Title the subject with the person's name and add the items to discuss in the note field of that window.

Last week, a client created 15 agendas for her direct reports as well as her supervisors. She then added all the things she was keeping track of in her head. She listed over 150 items  distributed among her 15 agendas, to discuss the next time she met face to face with them.

Here are some speedkeys to get you there:
Outlook: Control Shift k
Notes: Click on "New To Do"
Entourage: In Tasks, Command n

Keep this info up to date by adding and reviewing the content of the notes regularly. Try it weekly for a month, which will help make it a long lasting habit.

For years, people have talked about using Microsoft Outlook as an "organizational" productivity and communication tool.

What I do is partner with clients to coordinate their habits and workflow procedures to maximize Outlook as a "personal" productivity and knowledge management solution.

As a result of implementing these changes in your view, you will see and use Microsoft Outlook as "your" tool for managing your 4 most limited resources*.

When tools become "personal," productivity increases ... and when personal productivity increases, so does the productivity of the workgroup and the organization.

Road Warrior Update:
Americans flying to Canada, Mexico, and the Carribean need a passport as of Oct 1, 2007 (yesterday) according to the US State Department.

The rule had gone into effect in January, but the State Department suspended it when it couldn't keep up with the demand for new passports.

Starting next year, Americans traveling by sea or car within North America will also need to show proof of citizenship.

Bon voyage & safe journey.
