Greetings! ,

It's going to be a busy weekend!

As most of our readers know, we have begun to use our Facebook Page to highlight events of interest rather than this newsletter, but in this issue, we are making an exception.

This weekend offers two exceptional exhibition openings which reflect the richness of the Northeastern PA Visual Art Scene, and fun evening which will help to maintain the cultural vitality of our region.

First - "Yesterday"

The Sordoni Art Gallery will be open on Friday, September 10, from 6-8p.m. for a reception and a Gallery talk by Robert Schweitzer, curator of The Maslow Collection at the Sordoni Art Gallery.  THE MASLOW COLLECTION: Context and Content, A Year of Collecting - 1991. The exhibition will be on view through Sunday, October 3, 2010. This exhibition at the Sordoni Art Gallery is presented in conjunction with THE MASLOW COLLECTION: Context and Content at the Mahady Gallery at Marywood University on view August 30 - October 3

Here's a link to a more complete description of this important event: The Maslow Collection - 1991.

Second - "Today"

The delightful Schulman Gallery at Luzerne County Community College is presenting Collective Visions, works by some of the finest artists working in Luzerne County today, including Nina Davidowitz, Barbro Jernberg, Jim Lennox, Maria Livrone, Allison Maslow, Arthur Miller and Leigh Pawling.  There will be an opening reception on Friday, September 10th, from 6-8p.m., the same hours as the reception at the Sordoni, so you can do BOTH receptions!

Third - "Tomorrow"

Tomorrow is the last day to make reservations for An Evening of Broadway, starring Broadway Performer Kelly Briggs & Gregory Allen at Really Cooking in Dallas, on Sunday, September 12th, at 5p.m.  This event will help the Cultural Council to keep the arts and culture vital in our region in the future, and you can be a part of that!

If you haven't experienced Really Cooking and the truly delightful entertainment of Kelly Briggs and Gregory Allen, then this is an event not to be missed, and if you have had this experience, then no more sales pitch is needed from me!

The details are below, but please call and make your reservation soon, as seating is limited.  You will be so glad you did!

I hope to see you there!
