We receive a great many emails with events for our newsletter.  We wish we could include them all.  Here's how to increase the likelihood of being included:

  • Put your event on the WVIA ArtScene calendar.  We're sure to find it.  Just click Submit an event to the ArtScene calendar and fill in the blanks!
  • We like to copy and paste directly from your email to our newsletter, so please use plain text (or unadorned HTML) in your emails to us.
  • Include everything essential, but try to limit your notice to a paragraph or two.  Be sure to include your location, date(s) and time, contact information and whether the event is free (provide prices if not).
  • It's ok to attach an image, but we may not have room for it.  It helps if the image is small (maximum 200 x 200), but we can resize it if necessary.
  • Feel free to include a link for more information!
  • Try to send well in advance - preferably two weeks - but send anyway - we may have room at the last minute.  As of yet, we don't have a regular schedule, but we're aiming for every two weeks.
  • Over 5,000 people receive our news-letter, and the list is growing.  You can help us by forwarding it to folks - an easy way to inform them about YOUR event!  (See the"Forward" link at the bottom of the newsletter.)

Greetings! ,

Happy Holidays!

On the THIRD FRIDAY before Christmas (that would be THIS Friday, the 18th), opportunity abounds!

We're happy to announce that there will be a "Meet the Artists Open House" at the brand new Arts SEEN Gallery from 5 to 8pm, so this is an opportunity for you, your family and friends to begin the LAST WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS with a visit to the Arts SEEN Gallery at 21 Public Square (next to Blue Wireless, just down from Circles on the Square).

Arts SEEN Gallery

We'll have some things (yet to be determined) to eat and drink, but the real attraction is the wildly eclectic collection of arts of all imaginable sorts.  We have over 50 artists taking part, and we KNOW you'll find something unique and wonderful for everyone on your list.

Please join us for this special event and help us celebrate the holidays, stimulate the economy and make the Friday before Christmas just like it was in the good old days in the heart of Downtown Wilkes-Barre!

Remember, it's Third Friday Arts Walk, so there are lots of other places to stop and shop, or just enjoy a night on the town.  Visit Marquis Gallery, spend some money in "Old Faithful" Boscov's, stop in at the Historical Society for a unique exhibit of historical Santa Clauses.  You'll have PLENTY of time between dinner at your favorite downtown restaurant and the Concert at the Kirby (Michael McDonald of Doobie Brothers & Steely Dan Fame).  By the way, the Kirby Center is holding a FREE showing of The Polar Express on Saturday at Noon!

On Sunday the 20th, there will be (yet another) special event at the gallery, when Concrete Angels Productions and Arts YOUniverse are holding a Kid's Santa "Cause" day of creating artwork which will be given to returning soldiers, families of soldiers and local service men and women, or you can create artistic messages for your own family.  Kids of all ages are welcome if accompanied by an adult.  The event takes place from noon to 5pm, and yes, there will be things to eat as well as musical entertainment.

Don't forget the West Side!  In particular, stop in at the Main Street Gallery for their fine selection of fine art including paintings, works on paper, blown glass, ceramic art, unique gift ideas and exotic decorative accessories.

And this is a great time to stop in to see the wonderful miniature world of art created by the Cider Painters of America - THE CIDER PAINTERS of AMERICA 25TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL EXHIBIT OF MINIATURE ART at the VGogh Gallery; 281 Wyoming Ave.; Kingston.  The Cider Painters started right here in Dallas, and has grown to be an international organization, so this is a perfect opportunity to see the best of the best.  The show runs until December 31, but why on earth would you want to wait?  Christmas is coming!

Give the gift of art!
