We receive a great many emails with events for our newsletter.  We wish we could include them all.  Here's how to increase the likelihood of being included:

  • Put your event on the WVIA ArtScene calendar.  We're sure to find it.  Just click Submit an event to the ArtScene calendar and fill in the blanks!
  • We like to copy and paste directly from your email to our newsletter, so please use plain text (or unadorned HTML) in your emails to us.
  • Include everything essential, but try to limit your notice to a paragraph or two.  Be sure to include your location, date(s) and time, contact information and whether the event is free (provide prices if not).
  • It's ok to attach an image, but we may not have room for it.  It helps if the image is small (maximum 200 x 200), but we can resize it if necessary.
  • Feel free to include a link for more information!
  • Try to send well in advance - preferably two weeks - but send anyway - we may have room at the last minute.  As of yet, we don't have a regular schedule, but we're aiming for every two weeks.
  • Over 4,000 people receive our news-letter, and the list is growing.  You can help us by forwarding it to folks - an easy way to inform them about YOUR event!  (See the"Forward" link at the bottom of the newsletter.)

Greetings! ,

From the Executive Director

GOOD MORNING LUZERNE COUNTY!

Yes, it's the first day of Spring and 3rd Friday all on the same day!  The ice is out, the river is up and we're out and about because there's a LOT going on!  In fact there's so much going on, I'm sure I missed a  lot.  But we present a sampling of highlights for today and the upcoming weeks for your consideration below.

Before I forget, mark your calendars NOW for RiverFest weekend on June 19 - 21.  I just attended a planning meeting and it's already clear that the Annual RiverFest extravaganza will be even bigger this year.  The long-awaited grand opening of the new River Common will be Friday (Yes, it's a 3rd Friday) late afternoon, and that will be a great way to kick off the weekend.  There will be more kayaks than you can count, music to listen to, food and fun galore, and yes, I have it on good authority that there will be fireworks.  Stay tuned!

Our fundraiser party at the Stegmaier Mansion, originally scheduled for the week before Christmas, will now be held on April 19th, and you're invited - see the story below.

OK, it's already well into 3rd Friday, and I'm going to bed!  See you around town!

Mike Burnside

ps: Don't forget to list your event on the ArtScene Calendar at WVIA.  Instructions are on the left, as always.
