Help Us Help You!
We receive a great many emails with events for our newsletter. We wish we could include them all. Here's how to increase the likelihood of being included:
-
We like to copy and paste directly from your email to our newsletter, so please use plain text (or unadorned HTML) in your emails to us.
-
Include everything essential, but try to limit your notice to a paragraph or two. Be sure to include your location, date(s) and time, contact information and whether the event is free (provide prices if not).
-
It's ok to attach an image, but we may not have room for it. It helps if the image is small (maximum 200 x 200), but we can resize it if necessary.
-
Feel free to include a link for more information!
-
Try to send well in advance - preferably two weeks - but send anyway - we may have room at the last minute. As of yet, we don't have a regular schedule, but we're aiming for every two weeks.
-
Almost 3,000 people receive our news-letter, and the list is growing. You can help us by forwarding it to folks - an easy way to inform them about YOUR event! (See the"Forward" link at the bottom of the newsletter.) |

6 - 8 p.m. Art is Not Enough/Poetry Isn't Sufficient
An international art event inspired by the work of Clemente Padín. We've received a hundred pieces of art in response to the theme "Art is Not Enough/Poetry Isn't Sufficient" from all over the world - the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Japan - you get the idea. All works offered for sale through the gallery at $10 each, with all after-expenses proceeds to be donated to Heifer International ( http://www.heifer.org/). The exhibit is on display through May 14th. Gallery hours are Sundays noon until 5 or by appointment.
8:30 p.m. Three Poets from NYC read from "A Cautionary Tale" Jane Ormerod, ICE and Brant Lyon read from the anthology "A Cautionary Tale." Assertives, paint pushers, protesters, off-the-wallers, examiners of ants and skylights, sound lovers, rhythm beaters, life beaters, joke makers - A Cautionary Tale brings together seven performing poets who are also visual artists and musicians. All regulars on the New York poetry circuit, the group came together on a blustery post-reading night in a Greenwich Village restaurant. Wishing to preserve the energy of the moment, it was agreed to take a closer look at one another's poetry and creative lives. Just like that, the collaboration was born. A Cautionary Tale: mind the step as you open the door. Published by Uphook Press, 2008. This featured reading is followed by a limited open mic. Arrive early to sign up.
