2009 Cedar Valley ChaseCedar Valley United Way would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who made this year's Cedar Valley Chase event a success!
 
Fifty teams battled it out on Saturday racing from location to location around the Cedar Valley. Competitors tested their skills by riding tricycles, dressing mannequins, and competing in other crazy challenges. The winning team took home a $200 prize, finishing in 2 hours and 10 minutes.
 
Sarah Pauls, Kristin Kline, Alan Simmer, Jennifer Miller, Mike Barrett, Maureen Burum and Kari Jansen made up the event's committee, and forty volunteers gave their time and talents to help with registration and at each of the challenges.

YWCA International Dining Event 

The YWCA of Black Hawk County invites you to join them for the second annual "A World of Great Tastes" international dining event. Enjoy cuisine from all over the world while you support programs that meet the needs of local women, children, and families. The event will be held on Saturday, October 10 at 6 p.m. in the Slife Ballroom at The Commons of the University of Northern Iowa.
 
Appetizers will be served during the silent auction which begins at 6 p.m. The dinner menu for the evening includes appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts from cultures such as Greece, Spain, Turkey, Italy, Morocco and France. During dessert Jim Coloff of Mix 96 will lead a live auction.
 
The event features entertainment from Brazilian violinists Walter and Wagner Caldes, Amigos Del Mariachi-Mariachi Band and the UNI International Dance Theatre.
 
Cocktail attire is suggested and free valet parking will be available. Purchase tickets for $50 each or reserve a table of eight for $375. R.S.V.P. by October 5 by calling the YWCA at (319) 234-7589.
