Powerful Tools for Caregivers
Over 50 million family caregivers in America provide a vast array of emotional, financial, nursing, social, homemaking and other services on a daily or on an intermittent basis. If family caregivers learn to take good care of themselves, they will be better prepared to take good care of their loved ones.

Did you know?
· 14% of the residents of Black Hawk County are 65 years of age or older.
· 95% of older persons, who need both paid and unpaid assistance because of health limitations, have family or friends involved in their care.

Powerful Tools for Caregiving, a six part educational program to enable caregivers to better care for themselves, is now being offered at the Cedar Falls Senior Center, 528 Main Street in Cedar Falls beginning April 15. This program has been tested and evaluated through a grant from the U.S. Administration on Aging. Two trained class leaders, Donna Andrusyk, Iowa State University Extension Family Field Specialist, and Lou Stockdale, Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging Caregiver Program Coordinator, will facilitate the classes.

Community support is critical to a successful program. Please share information about the program with people you know who could benefit from participation in the classes. Download a flyer that can be posted with registration information. There is no cost for this program. Please call Lou Stockdale at 319-272-2498 or Donna Andrusyk at 319-882-4275 if you have any questions or would like to register for this valuable class series.
