Over 50 million family caregivers in America provide a vast array of emotional, financial, nursing, social, homemaking and other services on a daily or on an intermittent basis. If family caregivers learn to take good care of themselves, they will be better prepared to take good care of their loved ones.

· 95% of older persons, who need both paid and unpaid assistance because of health limitations, have family or friends involved in their care.
Powerful Tools for Caregiving, a six part educational program to enable caregivers to better care for themselves, is now being offered at the Cedar Falls Senior Center, 528 Main Street in Cedar Falls beginning April 15. This program has been tested and evaluated through a grant from the U.S. Administration on Aging. Two trained class leaders, Donna Andrusyk, Iowa State University Extension Family Field Specialist, and Lou Stockdale, Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging Caregiver Program Coordinator, will facilitate the classes.
