Where are all of the kids these days? Not on Facebook. Just ask your 12 year old niece, nephew, son or daughter-or your co-worker. The answer will most likely be Instagram. 80 million users and it's anticipated the network will reach the 100 million mark by this Fall.
Join Cement Marketing, the American Marketing Association and AdFed as they team up for one of our popular Cement Mixer workshops and learn:
- Why Instagram can't be ignored and how to use it as a marketing tool
- How to tell your story or your brand's story with photographs alone
- How to gain followers on Instagram via the networks hash tagging system
- How to take the best photographs with your iPhone or Android

Raise Your Game
Ace the Interview: Lessons from Mom
Kristen Harris, Owner
"You're given about one-zillionth of second before someone forms an opinion about you. Okay, scientifically it's really somewhere between 7 and 60 seconds, depending on who you ask. Regardless, it's very little time and once that impression is formed, it's very difficult to change. So do all those things your mother told you...look nice, be on time, do your homework, ask questions, and smile. Really, it starts with the basics."

Dear Executive Search,
Our CFO had a bad experience at his last company when they used an executive search firm and some people internally are balking at paying a recruiting fee. We're just not sure we should use you to fill our role. However, I've heard about your company and people say you know the best people in town, so I'd like to be able to have everyone in our company feel good about engaging you for our search. What can I tell them?
-Info Needy
Dear Info Needy, Your CFO ate the brown acid and had a bad trip...bummer, man. Our reputation is on the line every time we take on a search, which means we strive to make it a great experience. You've already heard good things about our search firm and that's a good sign. Meeting with our team is the next step you should take and what you should get out of this meeting is that we've listened to you. Did we ask the right questions? Do we specialize in this role? I'm thinking we do because marketing, advertising, communication and design is all we bill ourselves as doing. When it comes to our fee, we're worth it. You get someone great, you save time and money and we guarantee our work. Please tell them that. -ES

Dear Executive Search, I've been doing a lot of networking as part of my search efforts with the hope that I'm going to make the right connections. How will I know if what I'm doing is working? -Networked
Dear Networked, I'm not sure if what you're doing is working, but maybe the person you met last week will meet someone next week who is going to be an executive recruiter who specializes in your niche. That person you haven't met yet may be able to answer your question. -ES

New Year, New Initiatives
Green Tip Leaving your car at home twice a week can cut greenhouse gas emissions by 1,600 pounds per year. Save up errands and shopping trips so you need to drive fewer times. Use public transportation, carpool, walk or bike whenever possible to reduce air pollution and save on fuel costs. Visit COTA for information on public transportation in Columbus or MORPC for a map of bike lanes and trails. Wellness Tip With Halloween around the corner, you may be worried about overdoing it. Here's a good tip: Buy just one kind of candy instead of a variety pack. Buying a variety pack tempts you to want to have one of each kind. |
