Greetings!
April is here! Our own Kristen Harris is honored to be a judge this month for the AICUO Student Award For Excellence in the Visual Arts. As the nation's first intercollegiate online arts competition, the AICUO Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts (EVAs) recognizes outstanding students from art programs at independent colleges and universities in every region of Ohio. More about all the judges is posted here: http://aicuoartaward.blogspot.com/p/judges.html. Our popular 'Creative Events Calendar' is now available in a pdf version! Click here to download all the creative events happening around Columbus this April-June. Each quarter, we ask a designer in our network to take complete creative control in designing our events calendar. Check out what talented designer Katy Rankin did for Spring 2011! -The Portfolio Team

Creative SceneWe're excited to be a sponsor for the Wexner Center's GenWex 'Off The Grid' Dance Party! GenWex is the Wexner Center's young professional (or semi-professional) group for art fans. Part social, part educational, GenWex holds events throughout the course of the year. Off the Grid 2011 promises to keep the senses overloaded-and far off the grid-all night. Star-powered DJ sets, live music and visuals keep the party mixed up. Delicious eats from Dine Originals Columbus restaurants like Barrio, Rigsby's, Black Creek Bistro, and Due Amici will delight your palate. Browse the exhibitions in the galleries when you want a break from the fierce dance party and you can even come early with an "all-access pass." And it's all for the benefit of the Wexner Center's educational programming. Purchase Tickets Here

What Makes Creative Workers Happy On The Job?
Catherine Lang-Cline, Owner
"Creative people like to work in a creative environment. If you have beige cubes, more than likely they have decorated their office to reflect more color and creativity. Try and overcome your desire to make all the cubes look unified. Creative people need visual stimulation."

Design Job Forecast: A Look Ahead Kristen Harris, Owner
"With businesses continuously shifting towards creating and utilizing new technology and developing more products, it makes sense that design careers will follow this same path. The BLS predicts increases will come from advertisers, publishers and computer design firms, including an expansion of video, movies and made-for-internet outlets."
