The summer sun is warmly welcomed this time of year. But in addition to the beautiful days at the beach, these same rays lend themselves to creating some delicious and unique Italian ingredients. This week at Panzano we are featuring two sundried goodies that will take any dish to a new level.First, from the fields of Michele Ferrante, Contadino in Controne, come some of the most richly flavored dried cherry tomatoes. Made with just a touch of salt and sunshine, these dried cherry tomatoes are bursting with sweet and rich tomato flavor.

Scagliola
Recognized regularly by Gambero Rosso, Scagliola is a hidden gem in the heart of Piedmont. The Scagliola estate is located on a hill at San Siro in the town of Calosso in the Barbera d'Asti appellation in Northern Italy in the Province of Piedmont. The estate is run by two brothers: Maggiorino and Mario Scagliola. The Scagliola estate was started by their grandfather in 1945. Mario is in charge of the winery, and Maggiorino is in charge of the vineyards. Before the two brothers took over the helm, the previous generations at Scagliola were just growers selling their wines in bulk to cantinas around Asti. Since 1980, Maggiorino and Mario have focused their efforts on creating world class wines at the estate. READ MORE>
