Connect BETWEEN FRIENDS July 2009
|
|
Hi everyone! I hope you are taking advantage of the lower room rate at the Westin ($159) for conference. This is a great offer! It's a nice Hotel with access to shopping and night life. We don't know how long this offer will last so book your room now!
Speaking of rooms do you need a roommate? We just added a conference forum to help with questions and answers or to find a roommate.
While you are on the website check out the SDP blog " how to get started in business" as I know we have all been there or still stuck there. I'm sure we can learn something new. I've dared you to comment. You can do it.
Have you entered the TableScape challenge? Maybe you could get some clever ideas from the conference forum or find a teammate.
Would you like to have a new certification? Who wouldn't? This is one more revenue stream you should be taking advantage of. Don't' be afraid of window treatments like I was. It's out of our comfort zone and unfamiliar ground, but once I found out how easy and lucrative it was I asked myself, "why I didn't start earlier?" Deb Barrett is one of our conference speakers and she will be continuing with a post-conference workshop to allow you to become a WFCP certified Associate. She has put this together especially for SDP members so take advantage of it while you are already there. See below for more details she is offering a great fee to SDP members.
Another great post workshop on Friday is Designing For The Future - disabled and aging clients presented by Alesha Churba. Alesha will cover many topics that you will be able to incorporate into your own business as another added benefit to hire you over your competition for designing rooms for the disabled and the aging. Read more about it here.
Decorators Beware! See below for more about a scam hitting our decorators. This is not nice.
I have been surprised by the lack of updating your profile pages on the new website. See below on how to log on and update your profiles. We all want to see your face and logo. Oh by the way, do you want to get a new head shot? Conference is your chance. We have a great guy talking about photography and he will offering you a new headshot for only $75 -- a great investment in Marketing Your Style!
We want to hear from you!

Business WEBINAR and SCAM

Decorators BEWARE!
SCAM ALERT!
There is a scam going around and they are hitting the most unlikely
source - Decorators, Redesigners, and Stagers. If it sounds too good
it probably is...
Don't be fooled.
Though there are variations of names and specifics ... essentially it is about furnishing an entire house and Frank/George wants to know if your company has credit processing capability, this is how the scam goes...
Greetings,
My name is Frank Chesney, I want to relocate to your country and having paid for
my house already, i am looking for an experienced interior decoration company
to help me with the arrangements of decorating and moving into my new house.
Its a three bed room flat and i want to confirm if your company will be able to
handle this. Kindly get back to me with confirmation that your company can
handle this for further clarifications..
Regards,
Frank.

Blogging Comment What has worked for you?
My business is new and I have been participating in recent webinars and
calls for ideas on moving my business forward. I have much work to do
in creating a publicity buzz, green design education, updating my
website, creating a blog/newsletter/eZine - I could go on, you all know
what I'm saying. Rather than allow myself to feel overwhelmed
(childcare issues have been at the root of my fits and starts), I am
soooooo ready to plunge headfirst into this dream and make it happen. I
would love for those of you who have successfully launched businesses
to share what some of the key catalysts were for you. I promise to post
what works for me - because something WILL work. We hear how a person
needs to hear/read something several times for it to stick. I am
clearly one of those people, lay it on me please!
Best,
Gina
