This past weekend was our Gerson Basics Workshop, and it was our biggest yet! 92 students of the Gerson Therapy came out to participate in the workshop, and they were the most friendly, enthusiastic and passionate group of people you will ever meet!
We got this lovely comment on our Facebook wall from a participant named Michelle:
"Just got home from the 3-day Gerson Workshop in San Diego. Thank you so much to all who put that together...obviously a lot of work. It was so great to be able to surround myself with like-minded people, learn all the tips AND get a chance to eat the food. :)"
Her husband Paul chimed in too:
"Yes, and we definitely appreciated the testimonials too!"
Putting on this workshop certainly is a lot of work, and we couldn't have done it without our incredible volunteers, who devoted hours of their time to help us set up the San Diego Women's Club for the event, and prepare food for such a large number of people. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers for lending us so many helping hands!

Oppose GMOs!

Tell U.S. food companies: Americans don't want Monsanto's GMO sweet corn in our grocery stores!
At the Gerson Institute, we passionately believe in sustainable, safe agriculture. Gerson persons and Gerson patients need our organic veggies! Unfortunately, agricultural giants like Monsanto are making it more difficult by the day for organic farmers to do business, and their pesticide-doused GMO crops are a hazard to public health and the environment.
Please take a moment to sign this petition, asking major grocery stores to refuse to sell Monsanto's GMO sweet corn. Here's the rundown on why Monsanto's new GMO sweet corn is such a threat:
"Right now, Monsanto, the corporation responsible for producing roughly 90% of genetically modified seeds around the globe, is working to bring their new, GMO sweet corn to a grocery store aisle or farmer's market near you.

Unlike Monsanto's other GMO crops -- which are primarily fed to animals -- this sweet corn is intended for direct human consumption.
This is the first time Monsanto has engineered a vegetable that could be served straight to your dinner table. And if this unlabeled, and potentially toxic crop succeeds, Monsanto is sure to bring us even more.
As an activist and consumer, you are in a powerful position to pressure leading U.S. grocery stores to reject Monsanto's new GMO corn."

| Workplace Giving | |
Are you a government employee? Do you have a workplace giving campaign? You can support the Gerson Institute with a payroll donation!
If you work for the post office, military, or in another federal job, you may have heard of the Combined Federal Campaign, a way for government employees to support different charities by making a donation from their paychecks. Employees start their pledges in September. If you participate in this campaign, please consider making us your charity this year and help us bring hope and healing to people across the world If you would like to promote the Gerson Institute at your workplace campaign, please contact Mika at mpaydentravers@gerson.org for more information. If you are not a federal employee but know others who are, please tell them to consider donating to the Gerson Institute this year. | Need help starting the Gerson Therapy at home? | |
The Gerson Institute trains Home Set-up Trainers to go to a client's home to help them prepare their home environment for starting the Gerson Therapy by:

- Assisting and teaching the client and/or family members to prepare the Gerson food and juices.
- Organizing the kitchen and equipment and helping the patient to acquire a proper juicer.
- Providing Gerson-approved resources and information for obtaining Gerson supplies.
- Locating sources for organic foods and preparing shopping lists.
- Making recommendations for establishing a non-toxic environment in the home.
Most people need to follow the Gerson Therapy for a minimum of two years. The daily preparation of three meals and up to 13 juices made from approximately 20 pounds of organic vegetables and fruit is very labor intensive. Making the transition from one's "normal" life to life on the Gerson Therapy can be daunting, and there is a lot to learn. Because of the hard work involved, many people doing the Gerson Therapy at home can benefit from the services of a certified Gerson Home Set-up Trainer. Home Set-up Trainers are not medical professionals, so they do not provide medical advice or prescribe the Gerson protocol. Home Set-up Trainers are not employees of the Gerson Institute or the clinic. They are independent contractors and set their own rates. To obtain a referral to a Certified Home Set-up Trainer, contact Blanca Ayala bayala@gerson.org or 619-685-5353 ext. 116 at the Gerson Institute to see if their services would be suitable for your needs. Help a Gerson Patient

A message from Patrick Finney
I am raising money for my sister, Dawn Michelle Gregory. She is 44 years old, married and a mother of two boys. She was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer over a year ago, and now it has spread to one of her lungs and liver.
She now has been told that she has stage 4 cancer now, and chemo and radiation has worked a little, but I feel she would be better served if she could visit the Gerson clinic in Mexico.
The money collected will go towards her two week stay at the Gerson clinic in Mexico. The stay per week is $5,500, with a minimum stay of two weeks.
Supporters can also help by praying and taking a look at the Gerson's Institute's webpage at: http://www.gerson.org/Programs/cnv.htm to learn more about the clinic and this non-profit's mission of healing cancer patients like my sister.

Your Stories
| |
Susan Morton is a recovered cancer patient, who is currently a caregiver for her husband, who is now following the Gerson Therapy for prostate cancer. Susan recently graduated from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. Last month, she was the featured alumnus on the the Institute of Holistic Nutrition's website, where she shared the story of her husband's healing journey and her passion for holistic medicine.
Here is Susan's story!
"The most important role I'll ever have is being a Gerson Caregiver to my husband. I'm a cancer survivor and my husband Fred is currently battling prostate cancer. With the information I learned from IHN and our wonderful Cancer Coach Jeanette Marshall, Fred decided to fight his battle the holistic way, so we went to the Gerson Clinic in Mexico. This is a truly healing place and an experience we will never forget. The protocol we learned from the Gerson Institute is a tremendous amount of work, but Fred is doing well and his results are very promising.
Fred and I are going to be in a documentary regarding the Gerson treatment. We had 2 wonderful journalists Sarah Mabrouk, and Fred Lafargue, who lived with us for several days filming our day-to-day activities in regards to the Gerson protocol. They will be visiting our home every 3 months for the next two years documenting Fred's progress. Fred is one of 5 patients they are following and they're hoping this documentary will make it to the movie theatres. We feel honoured to be a part of this, and we hope this information will reach as many people as possible.
I believe everything happens for a reason. My cancer experience changed my path in life and now I'm dedicated to helping others regain their health. I'm hoping within the next year to transition into a full time practice with my main focus on helping clients with active cancer and as well prevention."
- Susan Morton, CNP, NNCP
