| Run for the Cure |
Anthony Serna, our enthusiastic, energetic volunteer who works for the Navy, has taken it upon himself to raise money for the Gerson Institute by his team running in the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon on May 31st.
Anthony is truly an exceptional advocate for organic food and natural healing. Let's support him!

LOCATION: The Gerson Institute, San Diego, California A two and a half day training for individuals intending to provide Gerson care for themselves or a loved one, or for non-licensed health care providers wishing to expand their range of knowledge. It is also the first class for someone desiring to become a professional caregiver.

| Recipe of the Month |
For those of you who have never tried the Gerson Therapy, we wanted to share with you a very important daily food item for Gerson patients - the Special Soup or Hippocrates Soup that helps to detoxify the kidneys.
1 medium celery root, if available (if not, 3-4 celery stalks)
1 medium parsley root, if available
2 small or 1 large leek (if not available use 2 small onions)
2 medium onions
garlic to taste
small amount of parsley
1 to 1-1/2 pounds tomatoes (or more if desired)
1 pound potatoes
Wash and scrub vegetables. Cut into slices or 1/2 inch cubes. Do not peel.
For 1 person, use a 4-quart pot, then add water to just cover vegetables, bring to a boil, then cook slowly on low heat for 1-1/2 to 2 hours until all the vegetables are soft.
Pass through a food mill to remove fibers. Let cool cown to room temperature before putting it in the refrigerator. Keep well covered in referigerator no longer than 2 days. Warm up as much as needed each time.

Gerson Growing in Europe
Charlotte Gerson's daughter, Peggy Straus from Italy, has announced that the Italian translation is now available of the book Healing the Gerson Way, by Charlotte Gerson and Beata Bishop.

Pro-Pesticide Group Criticizes First Lady's Organic Garden: First Lady Michelle Obama is coming under criticism from a pro-pesticide industry group for deciding to plant an organic garden at the White House. The Mid America CropLife Association recently wrote to the First Lady to urge her to consider using pesticides, or what they call "crop protection products." One official with the pro-pesticide group said, "While a garden is a great idea, the thought of it being organic made [us] shudder." Mid America CropLife represents agribusinesses like Monsanto, Dow AgroSciences and DuPont. (From Democracy Now Headlines April 14th) |
