Are You King of Your Castle?

Phyllis Klosinski  is a Libertarian that resides in one of the most beautiful areas of Indiana: Brown County. She lives within the Cordry Sweetwater Conservancy District. A conservancy district allows taxpayers in an area to levy a special tax to deal with water issues. There are many uses for it, and you can see a list here. This particular district was set up to build a septic system to keep sediment out of Brown County's coves.

The Klosinskis have gone to court to argue in their case the the conservancy district didn't act within the statutory limits... They argue that the district really didn't do anything at all, except take their tax money.

So they sued. If the taxing district wasn't providing results, then why should taxes be taken at all? The prosecution argues that the Klosinskis have no right to sue because they weren't directly "harmed" in person or property by the conservancy district. The Klosinskis said (in legal terms, not a direct quote) "Who cares? I pay for this taxing authority and if you are harming the district with my money then you are harming me."

The courts didn't agree. In Indiana, now to sue a government that's out of control, it has to hurt you first.

Rupert Boneham canvassing the Rush County fair tonight!

Rupert Boneham of Survivor fame, will be canvassing the Rush County 4H Fair with Rushville Libertarian Mayoral candidate Debbie O'Neal tonight, June 21st, from 6- 9pm.

Rupert will be visiting with the people of Rush County to promote the Rush County Libertarian Party, The Debbie O'Neal candidacy for Mayor, and Rupert's kids, the 501c3 charity that Rupert operates from his Indianapolis base. This charity is funded solely on private donations and does not receive any Indiana State or Federal tax payer monies.

The Libertarian Party of Rush County encourages all citizens of Rush County to come by the welcome center from 6pm until 9pm to meet Rupert & Debbie, and talk about the issues that face Rushville and Indiana!

Rupert's Kids is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving an easily overlooked population of youth: those that have become too old for the youth social service system, but are not old enough for the adult social service system. Rupert's Kids teaches youth valuable skills and trades, while also empowering them to discover their inner strengths, passions and interests.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

ABOUT THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY
The Libertarian Party is America, and Indiana's, third largest political party founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. Its vision is for a world in which all individuals can freely exercise the natural right of sole dominion over their own lives, liberty and property by building a political party that elects Libertarians to public office, and moving public policy in a libertarian direction.

The Libertarian Party of Indiana was formed in 1974, and has maintained ballot access since 1994. Sam Goldstein, an Indianapolis resident, currently serves as Chairman.
