Libertarians Start the Year Serving in Government

Libertarians are starting off the year right! This past week, we've had the pleasure of seeing several Libertarians sworn in to serve their communities, and accomplish our party's mission of moving us toward a more libertarian society.

On January 1, 2011, for the second time in history, an elected partisan Libertarian judge swore in two other elected Libertarians. Hagerstown judge Susan Bell was re-elected to her position in 2007. She administered the oath of office for two of her fellow members this past Saturday.

Steve Coffman was re-elected to the Liberty Township Advisory Board in Henry County for a second term. Also sworn in was Cheryl Heacox. She beat Libertarian incumbent Conley Tillson for a spot on the Clay Township Advisory Board in Wayne County. Read more on this at LPIN.org.

Steuben County chairman Ken Bission was also selected to serve on the county's plan commission. Bisson serves as the current Steuben County Chair, and sits on the board of the Advocates for Self Government. Find out more about his appointment at LPIN.org.

While not a government post, Hamilton County Chair Mike Kole will serve on the Indiana Citizens Redistricting Commission. An end to gerrymandering is a key issue in this current General Assembly. He will fight to stop politicians from selecting their voters instead of voters choosing their politicians. Learn more details about this commission's mission at LPIN.org.

Keep the Libertarian Party Moving Forward

In the year 2010, the Libertarian Party saw a major shift of voters towards our message. We have many projects this year that we'd like to accomplish. Building a federation of college libertarians, starting a printed Liberty Beacon, and creating LPIN door hangers to give to your neighbors are just a few examples. All of these projects are designed to achieve our goal of electing Libertarians to office.

Will you be a part of our continued success through your financial giving?
  • If 16 Libertarian Party members give $30 per month, we can print thousands of newspapers to send to members and distribute through out our local communities 4 times a year.
  • If 10 new members join the 1994 Society at $10 per month, the LPIN can put together College Organizing Kits to develop a farm system of campaign volunteers permanently.
  • Even with a one-time donation, it allows for special projects to move forward immediately. With a one-time donation of $400, we would have the funding to print 5,000 LPIN door hangers for use by our candidates and precinct organizers through the May primaries.

ABOUT THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY
The Libertarian Party is America, and Indiana's, third largest political party founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. Its vision is for a world in which all individuals can freely exercise the natural right of sole dominion over their own lives, liberty and property by building a political party that elects Libertarians to public office, and moving public policy in a libertarian direction.

The Libertarian Party of Indiana was formed in 1974, and has maintained ballot access since 1994. Sam Goldstein, an Indianapolis resident, currently serves as Chairman.
