Let's Put the Oil Spill Crisis to Good Use and Take Control
By Chris Spangle, LPIN Executive Director
You never want a serious crisis to go to waste." Rahm Emanuel
Finally, Rahm and I agree on something! Unfortunately, we're going to
part ways on the solution to putting the Deepwater Horizon crisis to
good use. The Obama administration and the left will argue that the
Federal Government needs to interfere more in the operations of oil
companies, and needs to toughen environmental standards. I believe that
this path lessens the self-interest and responsibility to protect it's
bottom line, and ultimately to protect our environment. Government
interference, crony capitalism and the systemic failures it breeds are
as much to blame for the spill as British Petroleum.
This episode explains perfectly why the American (and World)
population are frequently growing tired of a class of people that say
they are all-knowing and yet are all-failing while sticking us with the
bill. It's why the groaning for more personal responsibility is
beginning to grow.

Help the LPIN's Outreach Efforts This Summer
The Libertarian Party of Indiana has a long list of outreach opportunities this summer. There can be significant cost is running these efforts. It takes staff time to recruit and organize volunteers, time and money to register for events, and we need to buy more outreach materials. You may have seen the new LPIN Outreach Piece. It costs $300 to print 10,000 of these. We need much more than that!!
The Libertarian Party of Indiana needs to raise an additional $500 per month to do outreach properly over the summer festival season.
Please join our monthly contribution program, the 1994 Society, to help ensure we can get our message our effectively this summer and fall. If you can start at $10 to $100 per month, we can take those contributions and multiply your voice in to every county in the state! If you are able to raise your current contribution, please contact Chris Spangle at (317) 920-1994.
If you can't commit to a monthly contribution, but want to help spread the libertarian message, please consider a one time donation. You can donate online, or send a check to the Libertarian Party of Indiana, 156 E. Market Street, Suite 405, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
We always need volunteers to find and run outreach opportunities in their area. Please fill out the volunteer form here.

party founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political
parties. Its vision is for a world in which all individuals can freely
exercise the natural right of sole dominion over their own lives,
liberty and property by building a political party that elects
Libertarians to public office, and moving public policy in a libertarian
direction.
The Libertarian Party of Indiana was formed in 1974, and has maintained
ballot access since 1994. Sam Goldstein, an Indianapolis resident,
currently serves as Chairman. Learn what we stand for here. |
