Spangle - It's a Rough Week for Indiana Congressional Delegation... Or is it? Four of 10 Federal Reps find their way into the news in an embarrassing way.
Sadly, the Indiana Congressional Delegation has been making a lot of news for not so positive issues. The Libertarian Party of Indiana believes that citizens who serve in Congress should be servant-leaders that are without self-interest first and foremost. We are looking for public servants to run against the entire slate of Indiana Federal Representatives. If you are interested, please tell us here!
It's been a rough news week for those in the Indiana Congressional Delegation. Four out of 10 of the Indiana Representatives and Senators found their name in the press for less than admirable reasons.
This morning, the Washington Post detailed the scrutiny that Pete Visclosky (HD-2, Democrat) has come under lately. The story discusses alleged close ties to the Congressman, his earmarks, a lobbying firm, and a technology firm.
Steve Buyer (HD-4, Republican, pictured right) has come under fire recently for his scholarship fund. Buyer has taken many trips to tropical locations to raise a wonderful amount of money for students, but has given almost none of it out! A great letter to
the editor was written by an Indianapolis man on both Buyer and Evan
Bayh's issues with lobbyists, foundations, and fund raising.
Andre Carson (HD-7, Democrat) recently treated several constituents with $8,000 worth of limousine rides. Is that a responsible use of campaign donations?

Also, potential LP nominee in HD-4, Jeff Scherschel, discusses the Steve Buyer story here.

The LPIN affirms the following principles:
That all people possess certain unalienable natural rights, and
that among these are rights to life, liberty, justly acquired property,
and self-governance. That the only moral basis of government is the preservation and protection of unalienable natural rights. That no person or institution, public or private, has the right to
initiate the use of physical force or fraud against another person, and
that all people are bound, without contract, to abstain from infringing
upon the natural rights of other people. That all people are entitled to choose their own lifestyles, as long as they do not forcibly impose their values on others. That the voluntary and unrestricted exchange of goods and services is fundamental to a peaceful and harmonious society.
