Conversations with: Michael Eisenhauer, CrisisLink Community Resource Specialist

What is the 2-1-1 VIRGINIA program? Who should call?

2-1-1 VIRGINIA can be utilized by anyone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 2-1-1 is staffed by certified Community Resource Specialists who assess the caller's needs, and direct callers to health and human services in the community. Specialists can also advocate on a caller's behalf to help them more efficiently navigate through the health and human service network. We have specific target groups that allow us to search for services for veterans, seniors, persons with disabilities, youth, refugees, and more. 2-1-1 also offers follow up calls to gather information about the quality of service and to check to see if the needs of the caller were met.

Tips: Talk it Out!
Feeling sad? Confused?  In crisis?  Talk to someone about how you're feeling.
  • Sort through your feelings. Sometimes, just verbalizing what is upsetting you to someone you trust can help you sort through your feelings, or make the situation clearer.
  • Release tension. Just "getting the problem out" can help you feel better. Not only does it feel great, but it can also give you new insights into what's happening in your life.
  • Who should I talk with? Deciding who you want to talk to is an important first step. It's important that you can trust the person you decide to speak with. Sometimes potential helpers may not have the experience or knowledge to provide the advice or support you need. Depending on your situation, you might also want to speak with a professional- like a teacher, counselor, doctor, or nurse.
If you or someone you know is in immediate crisis, please call CrisisLink at 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
CrisisLink Gets A New Home!
Forty-five Deloitte volunteers helped fix up the new CrisisLink office on Deloitte IMPACT Day 2010.

Each year, Deloitte & Touche, LLP employees volunteer time and expertise to local charities through their annual IMPACT Day. This year the 11th annual day of service was held on June 11, 2010.  The company's commitment to service - "Community, it's our Business" is written on the back of the IMPACT day t-shirts.

This year, forty-five volunteers from Deloitte dedicated their day to helping CrisisLink paint and beautify a new call center and break room for our volunteers, and provided skills based communications consulting.

Thank you to all of the Deloitte volunteers who donated their time to make out new office a better and brighter place for our volunteers, who donate nearly 16,000 hours of service each year to answer calls from individuals in crisis and help with special events & outreach projects.
