CrisisLink Helps Ease Snow WoesWhen
it snows, CrisisLink is the place to call for information about shelter,
food, and public safety.
During the February 2010 storms, CrisisLink answered over 250 calls from those across the state without
power, who needed emergency shelter, were concerned about their roofs
collapsing, and other related issues. Governor McDonnell and the
Virginia Department of Emergency Management encouraged residents to dial
2-1-1 for the latest available shelters and warming stations.
CrisisLink fed local information to the statewide system around the
clock to ensure that everyone had the latest official
information on disaster services available.
When it snows CrisisLink can:
- Direct you to emergency winter shelters if your power goes out.
- Provide phone numbers for non-emergency police and your local
emergency management hotline.
- Refer you to food pantries, thrift stores, and donated household items.
- Help you find financial assistance resources to keep your heat
on.
To get connected to disaster and other services, please call CrisisLink by dialing 2-1-1. |
