 Spotlight on: National Volunteer Week
April 19-25 marks National Volunteer Week

Volunteers from Winter 2009 Hotline Training Class National Volunteer Week recognizes and promotes volunteerism and honors those who dedicate themselves to taking action and solving problems in their communities. CrisisLink relies on more than 170 volunteers working every day to staff our 24/7 hotlines and support our fundraising and outreach efforts in the region.

Volunteers are as vital to CrisisLink today as they were in 1969. After 40 years, volunteers continue to be at the heart of CrisisLink and are the reason we are able to provide top notch crisis and suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention services today.

This year, LinkUp & Listen, CrisisLink's 40th anniversary celebration, is being held during National Volunteer Week, and CrisisLink will honor all of our former and current volunteers for their commitment to saving lives, preventing tragedies, and empowering people to help themselves for the past 40 years.

Announcing the Volunteer Recruitment Contest Winner!
Hiren Bhakta wins CrisisLink's volunteer Hotline Listener recruitment contest

CrisisLink's volunteers and supporters are truly our best ambassadors. Earlier this year, we challenged our volunteers to recruit as many new volunteers as they could for our Winter 2009 training class, and they accepted the challenge!

In February, we enrolled 32 people in the Winter 2009 volunteer Hotline Listener training class, in large part due to our volunteers' efforts in spreading the word.

CrisisLink Hotline Listener Hiren Bhakta won our recruitment contest by placing our volunteer opportunity on the NIH listserv. As a result of the listing, we received four inquiries - 2 of them registered for the training class. Hiren received a Starbucks gift card as a small token of our appreciation. Thank you, Hiren!

Thank you to all of our volunteers for spreading the word about CrisisLink's mission and vital programs and services. Let's keep the conversation going about CrisisLink!
