Dear California Head Start Directors,
We invite
you to join a state-wide study
showcasing child development in Head Start
programs. CHSA has partnered with Child
Care Results to prepare a state-wide outcomes bulletin using your Fall 2008 and
Spring 2009 Desired Results DRDP-R (Desired Results Developmental
Profile-Revised) data. Child Care
Results, at no charge to CHSA, will prepare a 4-page summary analysis we intend
to share with state legislators and stakeholders to showcase the progress we're
making with our children. Demonstrating
results is our most effective form of advocacy.
All
eligible Child Care Results clients are participating in the analysis. To increase the sample size we are reaching
out to the wider Head Start community. If
you use the DRDP-R, there are two ways non-Child Care Results clients can
include your data in this valuable report:
1)
Sign-up
to take advantage of Child Care Results "Desired Results Made Easy" solution
this coming year. Their solution
eliminates data entry and provides the most effective reports & analysis at
every level of the organization. It
requires no IT investment or maintenance.
2)
Pay
a nominal fee (to cover Child Care Results staff time) to organize your
existing data collected either in excel or via a data management system
The data
will be collected in July 2009 and the results will be available
mid-August. Agencies participating in
the study will receive benchmark results by geographic area, age group, and
agency size. All data will be completely
confidential. At no time will the
summary pamphlet or data appendix list individual agency results.
This effort
is an important part of our advocacy efforts and will be central in our
discussions with the stakeholders that keep our programs funded.
To find out
more about this collaboration and to sign-up, please contact Peter Huffaker at
peter@childcareresults.com or
310-428-8256.
We hope
that you will take advantage of this opportunity to promote the work of Head
Start. |
Skin Cancer Prevention Education
|
Remember to protect young children and yourself from the sun's
harmful UV rays. Child care staff should model sun-safety practices
whenever they engage in outdoor activities with children. To support integration
of sun-protection measures within child care and preschool sites, California's
Skin Cancer Prevention Program offers a no cost skin cancer prevention
education module. The module includes an activity curriculum, video,
poster, and a policy template for teaching sun-protection behaviors to
children, ages three to five.
To order the skin cancer prevention education module, please e-mail your
request to cdoc@cdph.ca.gov.

Program, visit us online at www.AvoidSkinCancer.com.
