AFP Announces Diversity Fellowship
The Massachusetts Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is pleased to announce the creation of the AFP, Massachusetts Chapter Fellows Program. Applications for this program are due at the AFP, Massachusetts Chapter office on Monday, September 29, 2008. The Fellows Program is an outreach initiative of the AFP, Massachusetts Chapter to encourage diversity within our profession. This program is intended to reach people of diverse racial and ethnic affiliation who work for small nonprofit organizations in the eastern Massachusetts area. The Chapter's objective is to offer its educational resources and the collective professional expertise of its membership - in accessible and user-friendly formats - to assist Fellows in building both their own professional fundraising skills and their organization's capacity. The Chapter's ultimate goal is to encourage greater numbers of persons from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds to become active members of our profession through association with the AFP, Massachusetts Chapter and with AFP International. We believe that the result will be of significant mutual benefit. The Chapter will demonstrate AFP's value to those not familiar with the Association, and the Fellows will assist AFP to be more responsive to their needs and to those in the wider fundraising community who are underrepresented in AFP, Massachusetts Chapter's membership. For more information, please click HERE for the AFP Diversity Fellowship Application. |
Important Message from the IRS
IRS seeks comments on revisions to Form 990-EZ The Internal Revenue Service is requesting comments on a modified Form 990-EZ for 2008 (to be filed in 2009) Short Form Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax.
According to the notice in the July 8, 2008 Federal Register, the shorter Form 990-EZ was modified to allow the use of new Schedules A, C (political campaigns and lobbying activity), E (schools), G (fundraising and gaming), L (transactions with interested persons), and N (termination) of the revised 2008 Form 990.
The Form 990-EZ is a form for tax-exempt organizations with gross receipts less than $100,000, and total assets at the end of the year of less than $250,000. In 2009, organizations with annual receipts of more than $25,000 and less than $1 million, or total assets of $2.5 million or less may file the Form 990-EZ.
In requesting comments, the IRS asks that organizations address: the practicality of collecting certain types of information; the accuracy of the agency's estimates of the paperwork burden on taxpayers; ways to minimize burdens; and ways to enhance the clarity of the information to be collected. Comments are due by September 8. Source: BNA Daily Tax Report
