Dear Subscribers,
It's been a wonderful month here at the Center for the Challenging Child. I've been in Fargo, ND, training 17 new parent coaches who come from a consortium of service agencies in the Fargo/Moorhead area. WOW, I just have to say they've been SO incredibly successful with their clients and their own families. I can't wait to hear from them again!
As the participants were telling their success stories to the group, there was barely a dry eye in the house! We see parents who were at risk of losing their kids improve their interactions with them, to the point that the social worker said, "What's up here?" We see school personnel who are marveling at the positive time they spent with "the hardest kid in the school." We see a boatload of parents thanking our new coaches from the bottoms of their hearts for giving them hope!
Needless to say, this work has inspired and motivated me to do more, more, more. All the best to you and your family/students! Tina

Success Story from a Loving Mom
Printed with permission and names changed.
In July, 2009, Kristin Benning was at the end of her rope. Since 18 months of age, her 3-year-old son Julian had been aggressively hitting, throwing, and having major tantrums. Kristin had since given birth to daughter Erin, and was now very concerned that her 8-month-old was at risk of serious injury from her brother. In my mind, there's nothing more agonizing than watching your beloved first-born son seriously hurt the vulnerable little daughter you also love with all your heart. To add to Kristin's pain was the fact that Julian never acted out in preschool. The teachers reported that he was "wonderful to others." Was this something she was causing by not knowing how to parent her child? Why did it only happen at home with Erin, Kristin and her husband Tony?
Please click on Read on at the top of the article. It was being "oppositional" when I tried to put it here.

If you've been hesitating to call for a coaching appointment, maybe it's because you are worried about how the session will go. Please note that I listen deeply to parents, in the same way I ask parents to listen deeply to their kids. There's no judgment. It's actually a relief to tell your story and get help with the bedtime, opposition, transition, and morning issues you face. Why live with strife another day? Call 651-453-0123 for help with children of ALL ages (even 27!)
