Meet our Staff

We are busy remodeling the store, adding about 40% more shelf space in the next few weeks to the store!

Of course expanding means adding more merchandise and a great variety of new items.  Come on by during our remodel (there is not much dust!) and see what is new!

Cheers!

New Beer Making Stuff!

We have recently added a variety of new items for beer making, here is a partial list:

BrettWe added all of the White Labs Brett yeasts for you to make your sour Belgian beers, along with a few new strains in their regular line.  Click here to learn more about the Brett yeasts. To do this, we added a second display refrigerator, a 2 door model.

With this extra fridge space we also have been able to add some additional hop varieties, like Citra, Glacier, and Rogue Farms Revolution & Independent hops.   And we have room in the fridge to add even more as they come out.
top tier
Oh, and we also now carry in stock a large amount of the Blichmann Engineering BoilerMaker pots, Conical fermenters, propane and natural gas burners, and the Top Tier modular 3 tier all grain brewing system.

While not new items, we do have new lower prices on base malts as a result of now buying direct from Great Western Malting in Vancouver.   Our price for Great Western 2-row is now $34.50 a bag!  55 lb bags of German and Belgian Pilsner are now $54.45, and a 55 lb bag of British Maris Otter Pale is $57.75.

If you remember the world wide malt shortage of a few years ago, these prices are significantly below that era.  It's a great time to make beer!

New Wine Making products

Bader LogoThe new Vintners Harvest line of wine yeasts are out, after a grueling test of over 3000 fermentations from their lab in Liverpool.   Out of these tests, 9 yeast varieties were chosen for their superior fermentation characteristics.

Click here for more information on Vintners Harvest Wine Yeasts.

Click here to see a poster showing yeast pairings for wine styles.

Also new is a variety of oak cubes.   We have found these oak cubes to be superior in adding oak flavor and complexity to your wines without the expense and hassle of using oak barrels.

These oak cubes come in 9 different types or "flavor profiles".   We have American, French andoak cube Hungarian oak cubes, each in 3 degrees of toasting - Medium, House and Heavy.   The House is toasted between the Medium and heavy.  Typically you would use between 1 and 3 ounces for each 6 gallons of wine, and let them age for about 4 to 8 weeks, tasting as time goes on.

Click here for more information on oak cubes.

artisan cheese Coming soon - Cheese Making Supplies!

We have long wanted to also serve the home cheese making hobbyist, as it is a natural addition to our Do-It-Yourself store, but were unable to find a reliable vendor.

Mad Millie has emerged, and will soon be supplying us with a full range of cheese making stuff.  We will have rennet, cheese cultures, cheese molds, cheese presses and we will also offer cheese making classes starting this fall.  Some of the items will be trickling in next week, with all of the other items coming in the next few months.
