Greetings!
THE PEOPLE WE WILL NEVER FORGET Josh Nowlan, a war vet, took 2 bullets and says he is going back to the theater. "I am gonna look down at that same seat and say 'I beat you. You did not take this life.' Friday night I could not sleep. Despite being exhausted from the week, I simply could not sleep. I tried every sleep trick in the book until I finally hoped and prayed that my mind would calm down. When I awoke the next morning, I realized why at 2am ET my mind said no, do not sleep. The murders at the theater really hurt me deeply. I certainly am not saying my pain is anywhere close to the families of the fallen, but movies have been a major part of my entire life. From Jaws, to all of Pam Grier movies, Annie Hall, The Godfather, Uptown Saturday Night and a slew of others, I loved the medium instantly. Movies are why you are receiving this newsletter today. Since we launched in 2003, we have sent thousands to see the best Hollywood films and independent gems all across the country. And we certainly plan on continuing to do so because we know you love films the way we do.
Thirteen miles from Columbine, CO, on one of our industry's biggest nights, a madman decided to ruin it far worse than anyone talking too much. It is our hope that CNN and the other networks keep their goal of limiting the cowards name as much as possible. I will not type it here. Nor will I refer to him as bright, smart, intelligent, brilliant, a good kid, mentally unstable or anything other than mass murderer. That is what he is. Who cares if he is smart? He used those smarts for man's lowest level of action - murder. He should receive no press, no HBO story, nothing. He should be forgotten, not the victims. If there is anything from this incident that shows me the beauty of humankind was the unselfish sacrifice of friends, loved ones and strangers to save others. Let's remember them. Let's celebrate them. Let's remember we are Americans and what we do here is we are the land of the free, home of a brave. Those words mean something. Thanks for subscribing.
