Summer Session 5
August 18, 2011

Thank you for joining us for our final summer session! This week GLM children experimented with science projects, were bewildered by a magic show, and they were amazed by Mr. Bill's bubble show.
Please remember that next week GLM will be closed for Staff Preparation Week. Our teachers will be working hard to prepare their classrooms for the upcoming school year. Please clear out your child's cubby, bring home any belongings to launder, and check your parent folders. Thanks and we'll see you on August 29!

On Monday morning, each class was invited to watch Mr. Bill's bubble show in the middle yard. Afterwards, each child had a turn to utilize all the bubble blowing instruments - from modified butterfly nets to jumbo drinking straws. GLM was full of bubbles and smiles! |
Magic Show

GLM gathered together for a magic show on Tuesday. Gerald Joseph pulled all kinds of tricks out of his sleeve and had many volunteers to take part as his assistants. He had a teacher be his dancing puppet and he even had a few kids pull a bunny out of hat! GLM is also still wondering how he made the table hover above ground.

Volcanic Eruptions

Each child made a volcano in class using modeling clay and an empty juice bottle. They were able to erupt them using a drop of red food coloring, a squirt of dish soap, a teaspoon of baking soda, and a bit of vinegar. Please remember to pick up each volcano, so that you can recreate the eruption at home.

Water Rocket Launch

Mr. Bill captivated the crowd again during Thursday's water rocket launch! After each class constructed their own rocket, they went to the yard where Mr. Bill was set-up with a water pump and a ramp. He allowed each child to carefully launch a rocket and assisted them with the water pump. There were lots of "Ooohs" and "Ahhs" on campus.
