Eco-friendly ways to Stay Cool in the Summer Months
As the temperature rises, so does the cost of cooling a home, especially in South Florida. Obviously, the best way to keep a home cool during the summer is to use an air conditioner to keep the temperature down, but there are other eco-friendly options that don't raise energy bills quite significantly. Designers, Here are some eco-friendly tips you can incorporate to keep homes cool this summer without raising the electricity bill:
· Consider painting roofs white - or with a specially formulated reflective paint. Reflecting the heat will keep the rooms inside much cooler.
· In hot climates, plant shade trees around the house. Don't plant trees on the South, to benefit from passive solar heating in the winter.
· Costing less than a penny an hour to run, ceiling fans can make a room feel
6 or 7 degrees cooler which make this alliance super energy saver.

Funding your Creativity
If you haven't heard about kickstarter.com, you need to check it out! Kickstarter.com, is a crowd funding website for creative projects, and is one of the most innovative platforms to emerge for the creative community. Filmmakers, musicians, artists, and designers can build their own product pages, shoot their own videos to market their idea or product to investors who will invest in return for a small reward.
So, how can the success of crowd funding help the design industry? If you have a creative idea for a new product design, all you have to do is make a prototype and a marketing video and post it on the website. If you product and rewards attract enough investors hopefully you can meet your fundraising goal and "kick start" a new business.
That said, it is important not to take kickstarter.com entirely at face value. Investing is investing is investing: there are winners and there are losers.
While kickstarter.com may be great way to start a new business, it is important that you are also aware of the shortcomings of kickstarter.com and that it may not be the best fundraising solution for all endeavors.
