Are you in the right building?
In the past few weeks we have had a few people in ECHA looking for the Edmonton Clinic Outpatient Clinic. It's easy to understand the confusion. We have had sandwich boards placed at the entrances and added information to the ECHA web site to help AHS clients find the right building. You can download an area map showing both buildings here. Heroes for Health
What would you with $5000 dollars to
make the campus a healthier place?
Did you know more than 85% of UofA students are not consuming enough fruits and vegetables? Or that 60% of students on our campus are not getting enough physical activity? Or that nearly 60% of UofA students experienced more than average or tremendous stress over the past year?
University Wellness Services, in partnership with Health Promotion & WorkLife Services and Recreation Services, is hosting the second annual Heroes for Health challenge at the UofA. This challenge is an opportunity for students and staff to propose ideas for a healthier campus. The two best ideas will receive $5000 each for implementation on our campus.
This is a really great way to make a difference and to leave your mark at the UofA! If you want to step up to this challenge, simply register at heroesforhealth.ualberta.ca by Sept 28th. You don't need to have an idea by this date - you simply need to register. All UofA staff and students are encouraged to participate.

University of Alberta Will be Celebrating Open Access Week
October 22-28, 2012
Why Should You Care?
Open Access increases the "reach" of your research. Open access materials are usually on-line, free of charge and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. By placing your research in open access venues (OA journals or an institutional repository), more people will be able to read your results.
What Can You Do?

Nutrition Tip
Stretch Your Food Dollar
Stretch your food dollar by leaving foods that are high in fat, sugar, salt or calories on the grocery store shelf. Examples include soft drinks, chips and other snack foods and candy. Instead, review sales flyers and plan your meals around the healthy options being offered like fruits and vegetables Set a goal to limit takeout meals to less than twice per week. The money you save can be used to purchase more nutritious choices that can be made into healthy meals at home.
