December is going to be a busy month in ECHA. Our largest moves start on the 12th! The ECHA admin team is going to be busy, so please be patient while we help our new occupant groups get settled. Take a minute to drop by Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry and the School of Public Health to welcome our new neighbours!
We're planning a holiday issue of this newsletter. Feel free to send along greetings you'd like to share!

ONEcards: more than ONEthing you need to know
1. ECHA occupants need a proximity ONEcard.
2. Your new ECHA proximity ONEcard is NOT programmed by the ONEcard office.
3. December 14th is the deadline for you to pick up a new card from the ONEcard office. After this date a fee will be charged!
4. For the month of December priority for programming access will be given to Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy and the School of Public Health.

Congratulations! In November, a team with members from the Health Sciences Council's Health Sciences Education and Research Commons (HSERC) and Dental Hygiene was awarded an honourable mention for their poster "Moving from awkward to 'Aha!'". The conference, "Collaborating Across Borders III Interprofessional Collaboration: From Concept to Preparation to Practice" is an biennial event which has grown exponentially since the first event in 2007. "It was very exciting to be at a conference where people recognized the University of Alberta as a leader in this area," says Tara Hatch. "This was the largest IP conference ever. I think our poster won, in some part because it truly was researched and developed 'across borders' with collaboration between professions, institutions and nations." Tara is HSERC's Interprofessional Practice Manager and coordinator of IntD 411: Advanced Health Team Practice. Congratulations to Tara and the rest of the team: Renate Khalke and Sharla King (HSERC), Barbara Gitzel (Dental Hygiene, FoMD) and Hedy S. Wald (Brown University, RI). |

Want not? Waste not!
In most nutrition nooks in ECHA you will find at least three waste bins - organic, plastics and landfill. You will also find green buckets for beverage containers including pop cans and bottles, and milk and cream cartons. Through the building larger bins for paper, cardboard, light metals and even dry cell batteries are located in public and shared spaces. Not sure what goes where? You can find more information about most recyclables here. Organics are different, and ECHA is the only building on campus with organic waste collection. Essentially, anything compostable can go in these bins. ECHA is working with the Office of Sustainability to develop ECHA-specific guidelines for recycling and composting. IN the meantime - look here for a list of what can go in the "organics" bins. You may be surprised!

Walk this way: pedway info
Construction is underway on a pedway linking ECHA with the Walter Mackenzie Building, the LRT and Edmonton Clinic South. Construction is expected to take less than a year. Yay!
Please note that the pedway linking ECHA with MSB is open during normal ECHA hours only. Access to MSB is not under the purview of the ECHA administration team.

Is your office chair killing you?
Need a reason to love shared printers? Well, for one thing, they get you out of your chair from time to time. And apparently that's a good thing. Read all about it here.
