We've got a few new things in the shop this month:  a couple yarns that make for super quick gift knitting, as well as some nice gift ideas for your knitterly friends.

If you need a break from the holiday hubbub, join us this December in crocheting some super cute decorations in our upcoming Crochet!  Christmas Lights (and Hearts, too!) class.  And, speaking of classes, I've published the dates for Nancy Lindberg's January classes, so feel free to start signing up.  January is just around the corner!  Read on for the details.

One more thing:  watch your inbox for the scoop on our upcoming Birthday Party which is happening next week.  Can you believe it?  Double Ewe is five!
New Stuff

Hiya Hiya Bamboo Interchangeable Knitting Needles

I've carried Hiya Hiya's stainless steel interchangeable needles since they came out a few years ago, and I've been very happy with their performance.  So I was very pleased when they came out with a bamboo version for those of you that perfer a less-slippery, warmer needle.  They come in two sizes:  Small, which contains needles from size 2 - 8, and Large which contains sizes 9 - 15.  Like their stainless sisters, they come in lovely fabric organizers.

Swagger from Pagewood Farm

Swagger is a super-chunky hand dyed Merino wool yarn, which knits up at 2 - 2.5 stitches per inch.  If you're a fan of Malabrigo Rasta, you'll love Swagger.  It makes for a super quick cowl, scarf or hat.

Handspun Bouquet from Pagewood Farm

Another super-chunky from Pagewood, but this time it's a very thick -n- thin base, with really cute roving "flowers" tied on.  Truely, this photo doesn't do it justice.  Make a quick & quirky scarf in about an hour on size 35 needles.  Check out what others are doing with it on Ravelry

Merino 5 from Crystal Palace Yarns

A blast from the past!  I carried this yarn a few years ago, and I decided to bring it in again.  A high twist, very soft superwash merino wool, it makes for great hats, accessories, kids sweaters, etc.

Baby Me Boo from Misti Alpaca

This one has been on my radar for a while.  A thick & thin blend of baby alpaca, merino wool and bamboo, hand painted in the gorgeous colors Misti is known for.  It just arrived this morning, so I don't have anything knit up to share with you, but just you wait...it's going to be beautiful.

Lantern Moon Rosewood Knitting Needles & Crochet Hooks

November seemed like a logical time to restock my selection of the lovely rosewood knitting needles and crochet hooks:  they make lovely gifts for your friends, or yourself.

Shawl Pins

I've also recently stocked up on shawl pins.  I've got some beautiful wood creations hand made by a gentleman in MA, as well as some wire pins from Lantern Moon.  This is just a sampling here.

Banks & Bags from Blue Q

Blue Q makes some fun stuff that I just had to have.  We have tin banks that make the perfect gift for any knitter, and we have some fun, quirky tote bags in large and small sizes.  You have to check them out.  They're made of 95% post-consumer material (i.e. used grain sacks), and through a magical process  they turn into these very durable, whimsical bags.  (Ok, ok, it's not magical, but you can read about it on the tags attached to the bags.)

More Gift Ideas

This is getting too long...so I'll just share a quick photo:

Fresh Off The Needles

This month, I went over to the other side again...you know...crochet.  I've been mesmerized by "Tunisian Entrelac", so I thought I'd give it a whirl, and I have to say I'm very happy with the results.  The pattern is from the book Get Hooked on Tunisian Crochet (available at Double Ewe, of course! ;)  I chose Mochi + from Crystal Palace Yarns.  Would you believe that's just one colorway you're seeing here?  This was one of the most fun, most satisfying project I've worked on in a while.  I highly recommend it!

Knittervention!

This month's Knittervention! will be November 18th.  Knittervention is our once-a-month, Friday-night-potluck-get-together.  For the whole scoop, click here

Oh, and even though we call it Knittervention, of course crocheters are welcome, too.  "Crochetervention" just sounded funny, and "Friday Night hookers"...well...that doesn't sound right either. ;)

Open Knitting & Crochet

Join us for a fun social time while working on whatever you want.  No registration required - just show up.  We have three times a week you can join us:

  • Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:00
  • Friday afternoons, 1:30 - 4:30
  • Saturdays, 9:00 - noon

Please note:  Open Knitting is not a class.  Although I'm always happy to answer questions as time permits, sometimes it gets a bit hectic.  For more dedicated help, consider coming to one of our Knitter's Choice, Knit Along with Ann or The Workshop classes.  Details one these classes can be found here.

That's all for now, folks!  Once again, I'd like to thank you all for supporting your local yarn shop.
