Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Members of St. Cyprian's,
Last Saturday we put a ton of compost, named for the great poet Walt Whitman into our new beds circling our building, so here's one of his poems for us to consider this week: This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, Despise riches, give alms to everyone that asks, Stand up for the stupid and crazy, Devote your income and labors to others, Hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, Have patience and indulgence toward the people, Take off your hat to nothing known or unknown, Or to any man or number of men, Go freely with powerful uneducated persons, And with the young and with the mothers of families, Read these leaves in the open air, Every season of every year of your life, Reexamine all you have been told, At school at church or in any book, Dismiss whatever insults your own soul, And your very flesh shall be a great poem, And have the richest fluency not only in its words, But in the silent lines of its lips and face, And between the lashes of your eyes, And in every motion and joint of your body.Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Green L(a)unch. You can read lots more about the event and view many photos here and on St. Cyprian's Facebook page. See you soon at Turk & Lyon!

Peace,
Will

Tommie says, he is excited to see so much progress at St. Cyprian's and is especially grateful "for the young people coming and helping out." Tommie serves as a member of the St. Cyprian's Building Committee & supports his wife's leadership on the Bishops Committee. His sermon this week will reflect on the story of Jesus feeding the multitude with just five loaves and two fish.

"Critically acclaimed Tango No. 9 is back with their 4th album, recorded live at the Chapel of the Chimes. It features Astor Piazzolla's rarely recorded, austere compositions like "Coral," "Novitango," and "El Gordo Triste," demonstrating the cooler side to the fiery image of tango, while losing none of its rhythmic excitement. Tango No. 9 commingles traditional tango elements with classical counterpoint, wild jazz improvisation with modern tango, from Piazzolla to Kurt Weill, creating tango Nuevo with a unique American twist.
"Heat and cool. Departures and arrivals. Life and death. Tango No. 9 's new CD, "Live at the Columbarium," expresses them all."
