Plans to Enter 2013 Marion Bermuda Race

Marks the dawn of the new Traditional Class

Spirit of Bermuda
The Bermuda Sloop Foundation manages the Spirit of Bermuda sail training vessel and programme, to provide youth development to large numbers of Bermudian youth using a ship as a unique, dynamic '24/7' operating community and classroom.
This programme empowers young Bermudians by developing character and leadership through teamwork, and technical skills through hands on training.
We welcome Spirit of Bermuda and invite other sail training vessels and teams to compete this Tradition class.

Greetings!

What's your next big sailing challenge?  Perhaps this summer you participated in the Buzzards Bay Regatta, Stamford Vineyard Race, Lobster Run, FIGAWI, or some cruising time in Newport, Down East, Nantucket or Long Island Sound.

Now is the time to think about how, next summer, you might expand your sailing CV and experiences, enhance your skills and buiild your sailing network.  We hope you'll put the Marion Bermuda Race on your 2013 list of new adventures.

Racing 645 miles to Bermuda is a big deal.  The Gulf Stream and all of its nuances, the approach to Bermuda and even the finish line, are challenging in new ways, and will bring your sailing acumen to new heights.  Unlike other races that can be over the top competitive, Marion Bermuda has always focused on Family, Friends and Fun.

Marion Bermuda has a "familial" feel to the race.  As such, it's appropriate that the 2013 race starts on Father's Day, June 14th.  Many families participate and introduce their teenagers to the thrills of ocean racing and passagemaking.  The bonds that are forged through this shared experience result in lasting memories.

The other big "value differentiator" about Marion Bermuda is our Mentoring program.  If you've thought about entering an ocean race but were overwhelmed and perhaps intimidated, you will be coached and properly prepared for the Race with an individual mentor assigned just to you.  One of the things that really sets this race apart from others is the personal attention and Mentoring provided to you.  We will assign a mentor to coach and prepare you, your crew and your boat so you may race to Bermuda and back confidantly and safely.

We invite ocean racing newcomers as well as seasoned racing veterans to bring your friends and family, and enter Marion Bermuda 2013.  See you on the starting line - June 14, 2013!

Sincerely,
Liz Stott
Director of Marketing
Marion Bermuda Race 2013

While we require the above, we also suggest that all the crew members attend a sanctioned Safety-at-Sea Seminar and have at least two crew members certified in CPR and First Aid.
