- Negotiations Survey---
- THIS IS IT!! SPEAK UP, USE YOUR VOICE!

The email below arrived in your inbox today. This is your opportunity to have input into what may be a very difficult negotiations year. You all know the economic climate, your workload, your situation...it is your right and your responsibility to be a part of the process. Please exercise your membership benefit and complete the survey. The link is confidential and for your one time use. If you have deleted your link please email taina.radenslaben@nsea.org for another link.
Dear LEA Member,
LEA is gearing up for negotiations with LPS for a new contract. Since the Association is dedicated to serving and meeting member needs, it is essential that, as in the past, members fill out this year's pre-negotiations survey. The results of this survey not only give your negotiations team vital direction, but it also allows LEA to move forward with confidence that we are doing our utmost to negotiate what our members have clearly stated as important to them personally and professionally. Please complete the survey that is included in this e-mail and be assured that your responses are both confidential and greatly appreciated.
Important: Once you begin the survey, you cannot close it and reopen the survey to complete it at a later time. The survey takes only a few minutes.
The survey link will be live until Friday, January 13th, 2012. |

First Semester Membership Survey |
|
The letter below is an email to active members requesting first semester feedback. It has been sent out to twice. If you deleted the link please email taina.radenslaben@nsea.org to request the link.
But communication is two-sided - vital and profound communication makes demands also on those who are to receive it... demands in the sense of concentration, of genuine effort to receive what is being communicated.
It is the role of the Lincoln Education Association to communicate with our members and the District in the most effective way possible. We send surveys on occasion to poll our members on issues and situations of interest. These surveys provide us with valuable information to communicate in a fair and confidential way. Your participation is confidential and secure.
We know you are busy. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication. We are asking you to take a few minutes and provide us with your thoughts and experiences by taking this survey. This survey is based on the topics we have heard about from our members first semester. The more people who take the survey the more valuable the information is.
Thank you in advance for caring about your profession and the students in Lincoln.
Jenni Absalon

JUST ASK!!!
We have set a goal to add one new member per building this month. Research shows people join the Association because someone asked them to. Please ask the nonmembers in your building to join LEA. If you need a list of members and nonmembers in your building please email taina.radenslaben@nsea.org
We are running an extra $$incentives$$ reward for members who recruit new members. Please put your name on the top of the application form to receive credit for the new member. We will be awarding grants to buildings with the largest membership increases. Also if you have recruited a member in your building since the school year began please complete the registration link below.

New membership enrollment must be a priority of the Association this year. We cannot afford our membership to decline, especially given all of the challenges that LEA/NSEA/NEA are currently dealing with and that loom on the horizon. This is a negotiations year, it is especially important that LEA go to the table with a solid voice and large percentage of members among the educators we will be representing. It is within this current and expected on-going environment that we ask for your concerted effort and challenge you to please do all you can to get current non-members to join.
Please contact taina.radenslaben@nsea.org for a membership packet or download the membership form CLICK HERE

Important Reminders:
It's that time of the year again! Time to check the
LPS Seniority and Assignment lists!
The LPS Seniority and Assignment lists are used to determine who gets surplussed (reassigned) when there have been changes in a building's enrollment, or budget or program changes in the district. The lists are also used if there is going to be a reduction in force (RIF or layoff) if circumstances are such that there is no vacancy for a person in their area(s) of certification or endorsement anywhere in the district.

Friday, January 6, 2012is a teacher professional duty day that falls at the end of winter break just before the beginning of second semester which starts on Monday, January 9, 2012.
1. Because there are no students in attendance on January 6th anyone who plans to be absent on that day does not need to pre-arrange their leave or receive permission to be gone. Pre-arranging and receiving permission to be gone after a break is only required for student days when a substitute is required.
2. Because January 6th is a contract work day for staff, January 9th is not considered a day following a break (in this case winter break).
3. No mandatory meetings of any kind (barring an emergency) can be called at the site or district level for teachers on January 6th. January 6th is a teacher professional duty day for staff to engage"in professional duties at their discretion" [5-4 (a) 1 in the Professional Agreement].
