SHOP LITCHFIELD FIRST
Mark your calendar now for September 13-17 which is designated as the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Week. We plan to promote SHOP LITCHFIELD FIRST all week and ask all Chamber businesses to join us. A good way to encourage our residents to shop locally is to offer coupons, discount offers or even a door prize. We will include a list of all participating businesses in press releases, ads and email blasts. If your company would like to be included, please contact the Chamber office or send an email to rhea@litchfieldchamber.com and attach your coupon or discount incentive. Offers must be sent in an electronic format. The information will be compiled and sent to all members via a Chamber e-blast. In addition, the coupon flyer will be posted on the Chamber website. Deadline for receipt of information will be September 1, 2010. There will be NO CHARGE for this service to our Chamber members. |

30th Annual Party in the Park
This year's Party in the Park was a huge success! More events, more sponsors, more booths and more fun than ever. From the Carnival rides to the Pageant, Quilt show, Breakfast with Ronald McDonald, Pie Eating contest, Tractor Pull, Mini-Golf, Parade of Pets, 3-on-3 Basketball, lots of food and culminating with outstanding talent in Litchfield Idol...there was something for everyone! Miss Chamber/Little Miss - Special congrats to Danielle Krabbe, our 2010 Miss Chamber of Commerce, who will be a beautiful and gracious representative for us. Congrats also to Natalia Deren, our darling Little Miss Party in the Park! You will see them at upcoming activities of the Chamber.
PIP Chair Steve Bryant, Sen. Demuzio, Miss Chamber 2009 Fabriana Watts,City Admn. Andy Ritchie and Mini-Golf Chair Mark Stieren. |
Mini-Golf Tournament - The Mini-Golf course far exceeded our expectations and was very well received with open play all weekend for only $2.00. Ten teams participated in the tournament on Saturday. Tournament winners were: 1st Place -Stieren, Stieren, Stieren & Seely; 2nd Place - Webb, Webb, Carron & Hamman, 3rd Place- Pence, Prange, Pence & Hunt. Mini-Golf was sponsored by Litchfield National Bank who also provided neon colored golf balls with their logo. Special thanks goes to all our Hole Sponsors who custom designed and built their own hole - Thank You to Aaron's Sales & Leasing, Baker Custom Homes, State Farm Insurance, Savutek, First National Bank, Holly Lemons, Curves, Niehaus Cycle, Pepsi Refreshment Services and Short Furniture. Next year, we plan to have an 18-Hole course so if you are interested in building a hole, let Rhea know as soon as possible...there are only 5 holes left!
Parade of Pets - Can't say enough about the great turnout for our Parade of Pets who entered for the Biggest, Smallest, Most Tricks, Best Costume, Best Owner and Pet Costume and Ugliest! The Litchfield News Herald was the sponsor of this event and it was most successful. Also, thanks LNH for all the ads promoting the event!
Litchfield Idol - Brought back by popular demand, the Idol contest had 17 talented entries. Ashely Klump of Litchfield won the contest with an amazing voice. Come to find out, Ashley had previously competed on the "real" American Idol so our wonderful judges Randy (Charles Triplett, Ellen (Laura Poole), Kara (Rita Barnett), and Simon (Jared Wirth) did a great job. Presenting the trophy was Greg Dunning and "Lucky Dog" of Aaron's Sales & Leasing who sponsored the Idol event.
LAST, BUT NOT LEAST - Special thanks to all the Party in the Park Committee members and volunteers who did an outstanding job! Steve Bryant, Chairman, Sue Brakenhoff, Randy Brown, Steve Jurgena, Cindi Keeton, Debbie Kuethe, Stephanie Wonderlin, Sarah Weatherford, Resa Stieren, Amy Quance, Bob Corrado, Jared Wirth, Mark Stieren, Nikki Bishop, Amy Glaser, Drew Steigemeier, and Rhea Weaver.
