Spine West Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistants (MA's) at Spine West are an important part of the medical team. They are here to help the medical providers and fill several critical roles. Each Physician and Physician Assistant (PA) works closely with their Medical Assistant, which you may become familiar with as a patient. When you come for an appointment, you will first be checked in by an MA before seeing your provider. They will get an update on how you've been and relay this to the provider. The MA also updates your medications and medical history. This way you have the full appointment time with your provider.
MA's also check patients in for spinal injections by explaining the procedure and what to expect, taking vital signs, and placing an IV when applicable.
One of the most important roles our Medical Assistants fill is facilitating commmunication between providers and patients. They handle medication refills, obtain authorization from insurance for MRI and CT scans as well as medications, and relay patient questions and concerns to the providers.
The MA's are your point of contact for any medical questions you have for your provider. If you have a question regarding your condition or treatment, feel free to contact a Medical Assistant.
