Western Horseman celebrated its 75th Anniversary with a party at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and American Cowboy Museum in Colorado Springs in July. It was a fun-filled evening with musical entertainment by Michael Martin Murphey, great food, and an opportunity to mingle with former and present WH staff, writers and fans. AHP Executive Director Chris Brune was on hand to enjoy the festivities along with Board members, Patty Tiberg and Christine Hamilton. Chris was in Colorado Springs to review several hotels as possible sites for the AHP 2013 seminar. After a few days exploring the area, she was excited about bringing the AHP family to this mountain destination. |

A few bestsellers like Seabiscuit notwithstanding, horse books always have been difficult to sell to non-specialty publishers. The sluggish economy has made things even worse. Milt Toby, author of Dancer's Image: The Forgotten Story of the 1968 Kentucky Derby and five other books, discussed strategies for selling your book to publishers not usually associated with the horse world. Creativity and Creative Problem Solving with Bill Shelton
Notes submitted by Erin Ryder, Kentucky Equine Research
We are facing a creative epidemic - creative scores have declined every year since 1990. Creativity doesn't just "happen." To read Erin's session
notes, CLICK HERE.
Want more ideas from Bill Shelton? Bill invites all AHP members to "LIKE" Left Field Creative on Facebook. Every day, they'll feature marketing facts and a little fun, too. It's all aimed at helping you grow your business and reach consumers more effectively. Bill says, "It's been such a joy making new friends and presenting at the last two conferences (Lexington and San Diego), that I'd be remiss if I didn't try to help everyone a little more than just once a year. You're all the best!" (Bill Shelton-Left Field Creative) |
