Tag, You're It: Making the Most of One of Social Networking's Best Tools
By AHP Individual Member, L.A. Pomeroy
I've come to embrace the nickname from my professional associates: Social Media Queen. In the 15 years since I began working within the online horse industry I've come to appreciate when new ideas point to better performance. Surely not every jock jumped on Tod Sloan's 'monkey-on-a-stick' stance when it first appeared, but when it led to more wins than losses, hoisting those leathers up a few notches wasn't so bad after all...
In a similar shift, online social networking tools are changing how we can disseminate information and build audiences. I participated in a December Webinar, 'Rethinking the Horse Business,' hosted by EquestrianProfessional.com, which also noted it has never been easier to share what you want to say.
Why, it's downright child's play. "Tag," you're it.

Small Publishers Group Shares
For several years, a Small Publishers Workshop has been held at the annual seminars. As an extension of the workshop, several small publishers continue to network throughout the year via conference calls. Norma Vela, of Today's Horse Trader, joined the group this year and she expressed the following words on the value of this connection.
"Thank you to each and every one of you who comes onto this call and shares their thoughts, opinions, ideas, circumstances, etc. It has been the single most valuable resource for me, as a newbie to publishing, and I really, really appreciate the generosity of spirit that IS this group."
The next small publishers group conference call is scheduled for Friday, January 28th at 7:00 AM PST. If you are interested in participating in the group, contact Cheryl Erpelding at Cheryl@ridingmagazine.com |
