AHP Awards Excellence in Publishing
Award winner logoWhat better location than Lexington, Kentucky, to hold American Horse Publications 40th Anniversary Seminar. The three-day conference drew record numbers, but on Saturday evening, the topic uppermost in AHP members' minds was the awards winners in the AHP Annual Awards Competition.
The awards contest starts in January when members start gathering their best work from the previous year to submit to the contest. By March, the entries are in, the judges selected, and the judging started. In April, the results are in and the production of the program, plaques, certificates and PowerPoint presentation gets underway. By May, the finalists are announced. The contest culminates in June when the wait is over and the winners are announced at the annual seminar.

Sixty-three American Horse Publications members were named finalists in the 2010 AHP Annual Awards Contest for material published in and dated 2009. Participation in this year's contest represented 97 AHP members and 782 entries. Held since 1974, the AHP Annual Awards Contest provides members with an opportunity to be recognized for excellence in equine publishing as well as professional critiques for improvement.
