Hanging Smart
It's an often asked question, "how do I secure my picture to the wall without fear of it falling?" (especially important if it hangs above the bed!). After reading through Larson Juhl's website we wanted to share with you some key points on how to hang your art without fear of it falling down and getting damaged.
The Basic
Did you know we offer a complimentary framer hook when you pick up your picture? Framer hooks are made especially to accommodate a picture's wire or strap hanger. Our small size holds a weight of 30 lbs, the large size will have no problem holding 50 lbs. This is the most common and safest way to hang a standard picture. It will keep the picture from falling as opposed to hanging it with a nail.
The Heavy Mirror
It needs to be noted, if your mirror comes without a wire, it's usually best to avoid adding one! Instead, hang directly from strap hangers (a loop over a flat plate that screws into the frame). For an especially hefty mirror, rather than using traditional wall hooks, use wall anchors such as Molly Bolts, that go through the sheet rock and lock into it.
Security Hangers
Security hangers firmly hold all sides of a picture frame in place on the wall. A key tool is needed to lock it and again to unlock it. These are generally used in public places like hotels and restaurants, but are also a good idea where the frame may easily be bumped, like in a kid's room where things tend to shift!
Bonus Tip
If the idea of crooked pictures on the wall baffles you (seriously, how do they get crooked 10 seconds after readjusting!), try this trick: Use two hooks per picture instead of one. It's a simple trick that works wonders, and on heavier pictures it helps to distribute the weight.
