Dear Chamber Partners,

Well, it finally looks like we're getting out of the long, cold and snowy days of winter.  And this past winter will be one to be remembered.  During these past 3 months, your Chamber has been busy at work on a number of events that we will be having in 2010 - the first of which is our Health & Wellness Expo (a first time event for us).   Health & Wellness Expo 2010 will take place this Saturday, April 10 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Port Jefferson Village Center.  The purpose of the Expo is to promote good health to all in the greater Port Jefferson area by providing important information needed to plan for and meet their health and wellness needs. 
 
The Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, along with the many health and wellness professionals who have graciously accepted our invitation to join us in this event, have worked diligently to provide the latest and best information in as many areas as possible from pre-birth, to childhood, to adulthood, to elder years and after.  We will present prevention, early detection, and treatment measures and techniques.  Over 60 exhibitors and speakers representing the areas of physical fitness, nutrition, and holistic medicine will be at the Expo, as well as traditional medical fields and other health and wellness fields. 
 
We are delighted to have all three of our renowned, area medical establishments - John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, St. Charles Hospital and Stony Brook University Medical Center.  They will bring much professional health and wellness expertise to this event by offering free health screenings, education seminars and other timely information to those who attend the Expo.
 
Health&WellnessExpo2010 is being sponsored by St Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, The Times Beacon Record Newspapers, Generations and OCLI Eye Doctors.
 
The planning of our Health & Wellness Expo over these past eight months so we could bring this event to our greater Port Jefferson area residents has been exciting and rewarding for us.  We are looking forward to a great turnout and a successful event this Saturday.
 
Other events now in the planning stages are our Green Fest that is scheduled for Saturday, June 12, 2010 at The Port Jefferson Village Center, and is again under the direction of Jolie Powell, Vice President and Board Director, our Music/Jazz Festival that is chaired by Dan Shaughnessy, Board Director, and our Taste of Port Jefferson which will be held in the fall, is again directed by Melissa Petsco, Board Director.
 
We have an exciting year planned and look forward to a successful 2010 with all of our partners.
