2010 Camp Character
| |
It's hot, it's wet, and it is wildly popular! Its Camp Character.
From June 27th - July 1st Camp Character will be held at Camp Avondale from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Each day, Cub Scouts from RedStick District will be given the opportunity to fish, swim, take nature hikes and learn basic first-aid amongst other fun events.
While speaking with Joe Sanchez (the Reservation Manager at Camp Avondale) concerning Camp Character, he said "This is where NESA can fill the void". Sanchez lamented, "After breakfast and the flag ceremony, the Cub Scouts are divided into groups and paired with leaders and volunteers for the day. Businesses and volunteers have provided personnel in the past to make this event the success that it has been. The camp staff is always eager to entice more kids to join Cub Scouts and to offer Scouts that are already in the program an opportunity to experience the great outdoors of Camp Avondale however, it seems like each year it can be a struggle to get enough volunteers to participate.
NESA could really make a difference here." With that said, here is another good reason to get on up to Camp Avondale, be a mentor for some Cub Scouts and have some fun all in a days time.
So whether you have one day to spare or the whole week, your presence would definitely be appreciated. Please contact Khris Loyd at khrisl@bellsouth.net

HELP LOCATE
"LOST" EAGLES |
One of the major initial goals of the committee is to get contact information for as many Eagles as possible. Thanks to the Eagle directory put together by Harris Publishing, we have identified 4482 individuals that are either from the IAC or are now living in the area. Of those, 1204 responded to the survey and gave contact information. That leaves 3278 without current contact information. If you would like to assist in locating these Eagles, please contact me.
We would like to get a "Lost Eagle Captain" for each troop that can take the lead in finding Eagles Scouts from that troop. |
