Q & A Ask the landscaper
Q: Why is fall an optimum time for landscape planting?
A: Fall begins with the autumnal equinox in late September. The best window of time for planting is typically September through mid November. The benefit of fall planting for a plant are warm soil temperatures. Warm soil temperatures encourage more root growth than in the spring when soil temperatures are cool. When summer rolls around the following year, the plants that were planted the previous fall are better established and more heat and drought resistant. Other benefits include cooler air temperatures, more rain, fewer disease/pest problems and great fall plant sales. See our coupon below for savings on your landscape projects this fall! |
