Applications Are Now Available for the 2011 JDRF Children's Congress
cc logoJDRF Children's Congress 2011 applications are now available at http://cc.jdrf.org/! If you or a family member between the ages of 4 and 17 has type 1 diabetes, then this is the event for you. Don't miss your chance to tell Congress about the importance of finding a cure through research: submit your application before October 4, 2010!
Upcoming Support Group Meetings
D-BUDDIES - The group will meet this Saturday, August 21st at the Swing for a Cure event with the Charlotte Knights. For more information, contact Anne Sutton at asutton7@windstream.net.
NORTH CHARLOTTE - The next meeting of the North Charlotte Support Group will be Thursday, October 21st at the Pediatric Pavilion at CMC-NE from 6:30-8pm. For more information about the North Charlotte Support Group, email  charlotte@jdrf.org.
Volunteers Needed               
Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes - Volunteers are needed to help with the Kids Walk Program this fall. We are looking for people who would like to help educate kids about diabetes, help conduct the walks at the schools, and help recruit schools to participate in the program. Contact Sarah Cunningham if you are interested, scunningham@jdrf.org.
The Fresh Market Sidewalk Sale- Volunteers are needed September 10 - 12 to help serve up hot dogs and root beer floats during the Fresh Market Sidewalk Sale. Shifts are 2 hours and volunteers are needed at all 3 Fresh Market locations: Strawberry Hill, Carmel Commons, and Cornelius. Contact Sarah Cunningham if you are interested, scunningham@jdrf.org.
Ride and Stride to Benefit JDRF
ride and stride 2The "1st Annual Ride and Stride" will be held on September 12, 2010 at 2:00pm. This event will be held at Troutman Middle School and is hosted Watermark Church. Four options are available to participants: an organized bike ride of 25 or 50 miles, a 5K walk and a 1-mile fun walk. The event will also feature celebrity appearances, live music by Main Channel, food by Outback Steakhouse, and prizes! Click here for more information.
Mountain Bike Skills Clinic for JDRF Kids             
JDRF kids and their siblings are invited to a free mountain bike skills clinic with Tony Cervati, an endurance mountain bike racer and type 1 diabetic. The workshop will take place on Saturday, September 25 at 10:00am at Colonel Francis Beatty Park.

November 6 - JDRF 10th Annual Hope Gala
This black-tie event at the Charlotte Convention Center will honor Lance, Inc. and will feature a live band, Silent and Live Auctions, and JDRF's special Fund A Cure Auction.
