A Message From
Kyle Brown

Summer is drawing to a close and Fall is quickly approaching. Although our lawns and annuals are starting to fade, Fall is for most of us a time of starting anew. Vacations are over. School's back in session.  Christ the King resumes Jesus & Friends, youth classes and our Adult Forum.

This Fall, we're also starting anew with our interim pastor, Paul Schwartzkopf. Let's make this an opportunity to bring in new people to see what we have going at Christ the King.  I sometimes think our vital and active church community is one of the best kept secrets in the area. It shouldn't be!

Remember, our mission is "to bring healing and new life to hurting and hungering people through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ."  Chances are,
you know someone who is hurting and hungering. Maybe they've tried "organized religion" and become disenchanted.  Take the initiative.  Reach out to that person during this coming time of spiritual rebirth in our church.  Bring them to worship one Sunday.  We may be able to help them find healing and a new life in Christ.

Brunch to Welcome the Schwartzkopfs

A brunch to welcome the Schwartzkopfs into our church family will be held between services on September 12.  Sign-up sheets for attendance and dishes to contribute are in the entrance hall.
 GO GREEN ON   RALLY DAY!

On Sunday, September 12 at 11 AM, the Education Wing will be filled with worms, garbage and . . . food (yuck!).   Come launch our year-long theme of GO GREEN: Being Stewards of God's Creation.

The Discovery Center will host a hands-on Wiggly Worms demonstration.  And start coloring! We'll collect "My Weather" art pictures eligible to appear on WETM/Channel 34.   Play the "Recycling vs. Garbage" game, then we'll eat!  Please remember:  hand out the invitations you received in the mail.  If you need more invites, they are available at the Welcome Station.  So bring a friend and earn Bible Bucks!

Also, please remember to bring a recyclable item for our classroom sculpture.  Questions?  Ideas?  Wanna play with worms?  Contact Julie Sifert @ 785-3697 or jsifert@stny.rr.com.
 WANTED:
 Small Group Leaders
 No Experience Necessary
 Great Benefits

Christ the King is looking for Small Group Leaders for our Fall Small Groups lineup.  Experienced coaches and leaders are available for help.  Be ready to spotlight your group at a "Small Group Expo" on Sunday, September 12, and Sunday, September 19, between services.  Small Groups have long been an integral part of CTK.  We guarantee leading or participating in a Small Group will be a rewarding, faith-building experience!  Please contact Shirley Lyttle @ 607 786-5873 or selg322@msn.com

CTK Talent Show & Potluck Dinner

You can help stop world hunger by joining us on Thursday, October 14, for a talent show and potluck dinner.  If every member of ECLA attended one potluck dinner and donated $1, we would raise $4.6 million for world hunger!  For the show, you can sign up as a family act or an individual.  Our own Jim Ford will offer his keyboard skills, if needed for accompaniment.

The sign up sheet in the entrance hall will give us a loose idea of how many folks plan to come and/or perform.  Doors open at 5:30.  Dinner starts at 6 and performances begin at 6:15.
Questions?  Bright ideas?  Contact Julie Sifert @ 785-3697 or jsifert@stny.rr.com

Upcoming Dates & Times to Remember

On Sunday, September 12, we will return to our usual service schedule:

9:00 Traditional Service
11:15 Progressive Service.
Our Mission
