others through our Soup Kitchen; the birth of Valentina, baby daughter

Lord, We Pray for...the people served at our Soup Kitchen; all who are serving in the military; a friend, Frank, with knee surgery; Sally Hartwig's sister, Nadine, who is ill; Rob Pendleton's brother, Brian, diagnosed with lung cancer; Lynn Miller's sister-in-law, Jean, with medical problems; Rich Lindstrom's baby nephew, Thor, facing a long hospitalization.

From Pastors Nadine and Mark
As our time as pastors of Christ The King draws to a close, we're counting the blessings we've received here. And a BIG blessing has been the wonderful staff we've worked with through the years.Angie Roux (Director of Youth Ministries) and Julie Sifert (Director of Children's Ministries) have brought new life and energy to our
programming for younger members, and it's been a joy to have them as
colleagues. They're great! Jim Ford (9:00 Music Director) and Lukus Wells (11:15 Music Director) aren't just gifted musicians; they each have a genuine love for Christ The King and a real heart for worship. They've been remarkably patient with our last-minute worship changes, and they've enriched every service they've been a part of. (We've also had a great time at our weekly meetings with both Jim and Lukus. We'll miss those meetings!) Jane Davis (our Nursery Supervisor) has provided a warm welcome each week for children and their parents. Gary Robertson (our Sexton/Janitor) has kept the place looking spiffy. Their contributions may not be as obvious as some other staff members', but they've been indispensable. The staff person we've spent the most time with has been our Church Administrator, Beth Quattrociocchi. And it's been wonderful to be able to leave the nitty-gritty details of church management to Beth, knowing that she'll follow through on every task we give her. If all that Beth did was to keep the Church Office in order, that would be plenty. But Beth also serves in a host of other roles: part-time counselor, substitute Media Booth operator, back-up janitor, and so on. Beth knows everything about how CTK works, and she's been a tremendous resource (and a good friend) for us.By the way, this is a good place to mention something else about Beth. During the week, Beth works extremely hard on behalf of all of us -- well beyond the 20 hours per week that she's paid for. But unlike most other staff members, Beth is off duty on Sunday mornings (her regular hours are 9 AM to 1 PM,
Monday through Friday). On Sundays, Beth comes to CTK as a church member, in order to worship.
That means that if you have a task or a request for Beth, please contact her at the Church Office (729-2688) during the week. Please show Beth the respect you'd accord any other member of Christ The King, and let her use her Sunday mornings as a time for worship and fellowship. Fair enough?
Again, we've been blessed to be able to work alongside these seven dedicated staff members. We'll miss every one of them!
Love,
Mark and Nadine

Training for Potential Media Ministers This Sunday
At each worship service, we need to have a responsible person staffing our Media Booth, to operate our sound and projection systems. And we need more Media Ministers!
That's why Pastor Mark
is holding a training session for potential Media Ministers this Sunday, June 6,
between the services.
The job of Media Minister is an important one, but it's easier than you probably think. It's so easy, in fact, that even an adult can do it!
Please consider coming to the training session this Sunday!

Saying Good-bye to Our Pastors
The Transition Team is
planning three special events to help us say good-bye to Pastors Nadine
and Mark: - On Sunday, June 13th,
there will be a special Coffee Hour between services to honor Pastors
Mark and Nadine. All are invited.
- On
Sunday, June 27th, there will be only one worship service, at 10 AM, to
celebrate their ministry with us.
- Following the service, beginning at 1 PM, we'll have a
Celebration Dinner at the Polish Community Center. (June 13th is the
last Sunday to purchase tickets for this event.).
The
Transition Team has prepared a "Transition Team Update" for the June
issue of The Herald; you can
download a copy here. |
Children/Youth Worship on June 20 The children of Jesus and Friends and our CTK youth
are taking over the worship services on Father's Day, June 20! They're
working hard on special music and drama for the services at 9:00 and
11:15, and they'll take other leadership roles in the services as well.
The
Junior and Senior High youth are preparing a special skit for June 20,
and they need more practice time than the Education Hour allows, so
they're meeting at CTK from 6 to 8 PM on May 30th and June 6th and 13th
(all Sundays). Contact Angie Roux (aroux@ctkvestal.org or 624-0305) if
you need help with transportation.
A Note for Work Campers: We're planning to do this same
skit for the talent show at Work Camp, so come join us and pick out a
part! |
Table for Sale As part of our spring cleaning, we're weeding out cafeteria tables and selling them.
One sturdy round table for $10 is left for purchase. If you are interested in purchasing it, please call the Church Office at 729-2688.
